Whever i ride it seems the place that gets the dirtiest quickest is the chain and the chainwheel and the area behind it. Any of you know any ways to clean it and/or prevent it from getting extremely dirty in my five minutes of riding? BTW i ride street alot and thats where its getting dirty i dont ride dirt or trails.

hmmm. yea i have that same problem. the 'best' solution really is to just wipe off the dirt, and keep your chain lubed pretty regularly....more than once a month

get some degreaser..or some simple green type stuff...spray it on a rag and just wipe away. dont shoot cleaner in the direction of the bearings

the chain itself...youll probaly have to get some lube that 'cleans and lubes' i use rockandroll 'yellow' on my mtb and it works out pretty sweet when i use it on my bmx bike as well. it really involves nothing more than putiing it on and wiping the excess away.

dont use compressed air to blow it out...usually works...but sometimes it just works dirt farther into the bb and stuff like that.

i guess if its 'really' dirty id just go ahead and just take the chain off...degrease it...take off the cranks and just clean it....and just lube and put it all back together....i wouldnt do this unless your actually 'feeling' problems from the dirt.

good luck!
