Seems like a very expensive XP service pack. The animations are clearly ripped straight out of OSX, and the pricing is absurd.

I agree with nick on this, basically Microsoft has been the big player from the start but had been lagging in terms of design and devolpment for the past few years which has resulted in the need for a radical overhaul in both deisgn and branding. The downside is that there are a few too many borrowing of ideas from OSX. while apple may not appeal to everyone, it does offer a different (or has) form of OS. Did you know that OSX on an apple retails for $129 for a full version (not an upgrade) and when you think of the development of OSX compared to vista, its hard to justify the costs of vista.

yeah, i want to go to, ubunto, once i'm confident that my new hard drives not gonna fail i'm gonna format my old one, and check it out.
It's funny as, for 165 bucks ausd you get a pretty interface, i didn't mention, that it worked though.

by the way the computer I'm setting up is not for me, but I'm real worried as we will have to eventually set a copy of it up on one of our computers to learn how to use it.
when you say pricing is absurd? what's it costing over there?

How many compatibility issues have you run into running it? are you running the 32bit or 64bit version?
It really is disapointing to see how many new computers that come with vista are using the 32bit version on a 64bit cpu...
