Anybody out there give me some idea of how long my hang five nightmare is going to last?I´ve been banging away at them for an hour a day, five days a week for 3 months now and out of every 100 I try I roll about five for about three or four metres and the rest I just do a measly metre and come crashing back down to earth.I am the only flatlander on my island(Fuerteventura,Canaries)so I´ve got noone to compare myself to.Will it just click one day or should I just quit and sell the bloody bike?????????????HELP.

Work on the trick in peices... I learned hang 5's pretty quick this way... if you can pop in and roll, you've got the pop in part down decent enough... now you just need to work on your distance... So instead of popping in to work on rolling longer, just skoot into them and try to do them longer and longer. This is one of those tricks that will just click one day, and you will be able to do them as far as your momentum will carry you. Once you got that trick, you got it! Don't give up when your that close or you will end up starting all over... Id say if you keep at your pace and focus more on distance than the pop in, you could have them rolling far in a month or 2... Cheers fellas, I know what you mean by getting the position before the pop as I feel it immediately when I pop and then hit the balance point.Sometimes I can stick on the balance point for a couple of seconds but then I always lose it just as I feel I´m stsrting to cruise and I´m starting to get frustrated as I read somewhere that "you will roll 1m one day,3m the next and before you know it you´ll be rolling forever with consistency"!!!!!!!!Although I do feel as though I´m improving generally I don´t feel like I´ll be rolling forever anytime soon, but I feel better knowing that I´m not the only one out there who didn´t learn it in two hours!!!It´s just that it appears to be such a basic trick I didn´t expect it to be soooooo difficult to get.So should I be trying to walk into them aswell now to get distance or should I just keep going at the whole thing?

Don't worry, bro... I did the same. An hour a day for a week straight and I got NOwhere, but one day, 6 months after I started trying them, i found that sweet spot, and began rolling them a little further each time. 6 months on, and im carving one-handed hang fives in circles..!! Yay!! You'll get them soon enough, dude. Just stick at them, and riding in general... remember when we all found it hard to fork-glide..?? Ahhh... progression.... 'Tis a wonderful thing :)

Cheers for the vid,Rad dad,you have inspired me to persevere. It´s great to watch someone progress like that, well done.As I ride completely alone I have only ever seen videos of pros doing their shit smooth as silk-I don´t think I´ve even seen anyone fall off except in Dorkin,so to see some real people doing it is great. Thanks for the motivation. Hey dude just keep at it. My personal experience is still going with hang 5's. For me I found it easier to ride into the hang 5 position at a slow speed, but not to slow, or you'll just flip and end up on your face. Make sure your getting your bike up high enough and it's very important that your seat makes contact with your butt, cuz that will make the trick solid and help you to maintain your balance. I ride brakeless too, so I have to hit the sweet spot everytime, or I'll fuck up and have to try again. I also found it easier to keep my peg leg and arms slighty bend, but solid. So try it out, but that's what helped me out a lot too and I'm the only flatlander in my area, so I made it my goal to learn these, cuz one way or another your going to learn it, so just keep at it. Going slower is definitely helping as I am now hitting the balance point almost every time-still can´t roll it for more than like two seconds though. Also, when I do get rolling now my frame starts to swing out to the right just as I think I´m offski and I have to step off even though I´m still balanced.
