| Hey all. I started flatlanding about a year ago on my diamondback made for street. I've gotten a lot better recently, and now, my diamondback just isn't cutting it. I am now looking for a new flatland-specific bike, but with one big problem.... I can only spend at the VERY most $550. Nothing above that. It's not the fact that I don't have the money, my parents just think that I'm throwing my money away if I spend any more. I've already tried convincing them otherwise to no avail. So I'm just going to go ahead and stick with the budget because at this moment I don't think anything else is going to happen. I've decided that now I have 2 options: 1) Buy a complete. 2) Buy parts individually (new or used) and put a decent bike together. But unless there's something I'm missing, there's no way I'd be able to go on FF and buy everything to put together a bike for $550, and the only decent-looking complete out there in my price range is the KHE Dafunction for $510. I've been looking through several forums and there are almost no used custom completes, and not many parts are cheap. I really need help here. I want a semi-decent bike but I'd rather stay away from the KHE complete. I don't even know where to begin. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. John woo! | |

| Get yourself a frame, Sick Child or DK Transmitter, or FBM (go US made!), and pick up a freecoaster. Those premium cranks look like they'll get the job done in style. Then if you so desire after those you'll roughly have 90 bucks for whatever else (building the freecoaster into a wheel). Definitely start with frame and freecoaster and build from there. | |

There is no such thing as a cheap custom. Buy a stock bike and then make modifications as you see fit.![]() | |

| I JUST did this myself...and you can do it cheap from Flat Fuel
Buy a DK Signal for PARTS only, ($280) buy a used flat frame (Or one of the sale frames from Flat Fuel, they have a few for only $129). The DK is a SMOKING parts bike. The wheels and forks alone are worth what the whole bike costs. The frame is junk, as are the cranks, but the parts overall are real nice
Thats basically what I did, I got a DK signal, took it apart and bought a used quamen frame off ebay, and added some cheap Euro cranks from Flat Fuel.
I now have a cool Quamen with pegs and freecoaster all for less than $500. It's sweet.
There is a used Quamen frame right now on ebay for $150, and Flat Fuel has dirt cheap Premium euro cranks. You can do it, just gotta do some digging.
Good luck, I | |

| whatever you do do not get anything low end of KHE, KHE's higher end is great but lower end is crap. I have a 06 suelo simple with fly sealed bottom bracket, and FSA Impact headset. That I am trying to get rid of if your interested I would sell all of it for $100 plus shipping and handling. The frame is in great shape just the expected scratches on the bottom bracket and where the seat clamp goes. | |
