So, basically, it's like this.
There's like, an inch and a half of spacers on my fork, between the headtube and the stem.
I don't like how high my bar rise is.
The spider nut is in the stem, but not welded, nor is on threads.
I wanna cut down my fork.
Is this a bad idea?

nope, alot of people do it

but what you should do first is move  some of the spacers from under the stem to ontop of the stem. main thing is that the steer tube sticks out over the stem so that the spacer will sit nicely ontop. try a couple different combinations and ride around.  see how many spacers youd like to run. cut the steer tube so that it is about 4/5's the hight of the stem(with all the spacers and everything set up right.). it might be easier to mark where the steer tube is at the top of the stem and then just take the fork off the bike and cut a "little" under it. make sure u cut it straight. and file down the edges witha  file so thers nothing sharp floating about. also when your cutting...dont get all into it and try to do it all fast. the saw ill heat up and might break. specially if you dont use cutting fluid

remember....anytime you cut anythng ALWAYS measure twice and cut once. if your not sure its always better to cut too little than too much

i guess you wouldnt really have to cut the steer tube....but youll have it sticking out ontop of the stem so if you dont thing thast 'safe' or something like that go ahead and cut it

also.....do youself a favor and dont use an old(dull) saw or whatever...youll do it in half the time with a new one.

GOOD LUCK!!
