I was pretty serious into flat for about 5 solid years, but the past 1-2 years I have just been really taking it easy, found other hobbies, going to school, etc...

I'm starting to get the itch back, how many riders have taken a prolonged break and got back into it?

I took around 9 months off my senior year of high school. It was tough to get back into the swing of things, but I managed. I've also taken like.. 2 or 3 months off here and there... I say altogether in my 7 years of riding I've only been "riding" around 5 or so.

Well, let's see...

Started riding (not flat, just "BMX" in general) 1987. Got a "break" from riding in 1998 by way of breaking my knee. Started riding flat in 2003 just so I could get back on a bike again and not actually go insane. Went insane anyway. :D

I've ridden here or there the past couple years, but really haven't progressed. I'm looking forward to the spring...

I miss the days when we had at least 10 guys in a lot almost everyday, that kept the motivation up big time...

I've just had too much to deal with in terms of work and school at the same time, it left no room for riding for at least 5 months out of the year, and now that I have free time, its the damn winter.

I'm back in after 16 years.

If you loved freestylin' you'll never truley get it out of you...it's just part of you... and I'm seeing that a lot with the other 30 something year olds that are doing the same thing.

Dudes,
I've been riding for what feels like such a long time, but I live in canada so the riding seasons were short. So I guess that doesn't add up to much time in total, but one thing is for sure: the short times were intense. I had a riding buddy who we only ever saw with our bikes - we call them machines. He moved away and we had to get used to riding alone - which was great. Learned lots of stuff I never would have thought I could. Then after college and getting a job, riding faded away. Got swept up into the working world. BUT - every day I thought of riding. So now I'm 30, didn't ride in the past 2 or 3 years. So i took my machine out to my new tennis courts and after a while I was right back where I left off. Flatland has always been the place I go to get back in touch with my surroundings, and I'm sorry I took such a long break from it. Flatland f#$%^n rocks.
