Yeah, I didnt know it was a MTB stem when I posted it. I just saw a new quamen stem and a length of 28mm. But hey, people use profile racing cranks and chris king headsets. Why cant we use this? the clamping area on the stem is probably bigger then 7/8". You would need a shim, which I would never run. AMO what the f Mountain bike components are completely different from flatland components. Mountain bike components are designed for mountain bikes. Flatland components are designed for flatland bikes. Different needs + different uses = different designs. Not all aluminium stems will be equally strong for so many reasons - and I feel stupid having to even type that. That stem would not be good for flatland, which should be no great surprise to anybody... The latest Quamen FLATLAND stem is the best stem that I have ever had and I've broken a lot of stems in my relatively short flatland career. I trust Quamen - and Quamen trust us not to use their mountain bike stem on a flatland bike. And, yes i do consider myself to be 'qualified' to say that based on pictorial evidence. My hand got burnt when I put it on the stove as a kid. Does that mean that I have to put my dick on it to find out if that will get burnt too? An interesting philosophical question? Or is it? Aluminium is not just aluminium. Go and read G-sport Georges website and calm down. Stop wetting your pants and stomping around when somebody posts something that you don't agree with. Don't insult people either. You're coming across like an idiot. If you have problems controlling your anger I suggest masturbating more frequently. This is flatland not a rednecks' rodeo. Let's play nicely... Paul Chamberlain

Im curious at how riders such as Tim Knoll ride flatland with a - no, dont say it - a STREET stem? Oh my God, you mean to tell me that a flatlander is using a stem that isnt specified for Flatland!?!?! People can actually ride flatland with a 50mm stem, which is obviously a poor design for flatland, and has no reason to be on a flatland bike? What about people with full offset forks? They arent designed for flatland, so they definately wouldnt be very strong for flatland...
Seriously, like said before, how many of you have a legal document stating you are qualified to make decisions like that? Wait, never mind, look at George W. Bush. Hes super qualified...

Personally, If I were to run this MTB stem for Flat... the thing that I would be worried about is the decreased surface area of the face plate. This would make increased pressure on the smaller parts of the face plate... and it is also less area to keep the bars from moving around. ~Jesse Cantore~ ![]() | |
