I went to Sony store and saw new hdtv 1080 tv, that was CRAZY!!! So sharp, there are no words to describe it. Same goes to PS3 behind the plastic glass, the kid was playing some racing game there and the graphics kicked ass.
Maybe I'm that impressed because I don't play video games. :) Redwood City, where ya at? |

sorry but at the moment after playing both ps3 (even on hdtv) and wii. i found the wii more fun. my opinion hate it or agree, dont care either way. until ps3 puts out a better samurai game than red steel, i really dont care what ps3 is doing. i did however like bushido blade on ps1. www.myspace.com/weredonkey |

I think everyone had pretty much the same line of thought with the Wii; "I'll get one, because it looks like a lot of fun, but I don't think too many people will like them." Oh, how wrong the 14 year old xBox and PlayStation fan boys were. Nintendo sold twice as many consoles on launch day when compared to the PS3. Twice as many! That is unheard of. Some already posted the info about the number of games that where bought with a PS3; pathetic. Anyone look at eBay? Hundreds (thousands?) of PS'3, very few Wii's. Every God damn news station was shiting their pants at the people who lined up "for the new Sony PS3". Turns out those people where in line for Wii's, and the ones who did buy PS3's plan on selling them NRFB. I've been trying to get a Wii at a brick and mortar store for the past three weeks. That's about 50 (yes, fifty) trips to the same dozen or so stores; no dice. I've come across a few PS3's (mostly 20g, two 60g).
So, fuck you Microsoft, and fuck you sony. Nintendo, take your thrown.

I have a 60 gb ps3. This thing is amazing. All this console homerism is stupid. THe games for ps3 suck right now, but there will be some incredibly impressive titles coming out next year. can you really compare how many wii's sold to how many ps3's sold when there were probably many more wii's shipped than ps3's? i havent even bought a ps3 game yet, just rented them. the most impressive thing about the ps3 so far to me is the intelligence of the AI. the enemies have been much smarter compared to everything i have played on the pc or any other home console thus far. I have played the wii at my friend's house, and it is fun, but most nintendo games are simply too childish for my tastes and have been since N64 (although there are a handful of awesome games for past nintendo systems for older audiences). most people haven't even used or played a ps3 and haven't seen the awesome power of this amazing little black box yet. http://sis.slowli.com/images/4kv8te.gif |

Too childish? News flash; all video games are childish. And most people havn't played a PS3 because most people couldn't give two shits about it.
Better graphics; who gives a fuck? The Sega Master System had better graphics than the NES. Wich is the better system?

once again your video game console homerism is just stupid. i clearly stated that i was impressed most the intelligence of the AI in the ps3 games i have played so far, not the graphics. video games all childish? maybe, but i think there are big differences between games say like metal gear solid and gears of war versus something like mario party or donkey kong. the impressive titles coming out next year aimed at older audiences (18+) are going to be on the xbox 360 and ps3.
i am now done with this thread because arguing over video games is completely retarded. http://sis.slowli.com/images/4kv8te.gif |

Red Steel. T rated game that involves shooting mass amounts of Japanese Yakuza, mixed up with occasional sword fighting. The only reason there is no blood is because Ubisoft wanted to maintain the T rating so the game would have a broader appeal, and you wouldn't need to be 17+ to buy it. Game stores are actually starting to enforce those rules... Regardless of the blood though, this is still a very mature title.
Trauma Center. You play a surgeon. The graphics aren't super realistic and they tend to favor art style over flash, but for Christ's sake, you play a surgeon...
Far Cry Vengeance. I have heard that the graphics and AI in this game are really bad (though many people say it is still very enjoyable...), but regardless of that fact, it is still M rated, and contains lots of blood and cursing.
Splinter Cell Double Agent. Another M rated game, contains violence, breaking necks, stabbing people, cold blooded murder, etc...
Excite Truck. Super fun arcade racing game that is a blast to play. It's a racing game... a fun one... and it has nothing to do with Mario nor Donkey Kond. It's star is it's over the top gameplay and big ass monster trucks.... I suppose this is kiddy because it is rated E, or because it is bright and colorful though.
Need For Speed Carbon. Same game as the other system's counterparts. Still a dark, edgy, urban "damn the man" racing game that takes place in illegal street race fashion and contains out running and crashing cop cars as one of it's key features. Yes, definitely kiddy.
Madden 07. It's football with really cool controls, not super "adult," but no more kiddy then it is on any other console.
Rayman Raving Rabbids. Yes, this one is definitely kiddy, even though it contains nothing but "dirtyish" humor throughout the entire game... It stars cartoonish things though, so that HAS to mean it's kiddy. I suppose Ninja Scroll (anime movie) is for kids then too... I mean, it is animated after all.
Legend of Zelda. Deep, deep adventure game that lasts 40+ hours easily. Complex puzzles, challenging dungeons, overall wonderful gameplay. This is kiddy too though because it is a Zelda game and you don't run around with a chainsaw gun cutting people in half.
Ok, that is a small list of some of the launch games that are not kiddy, save one of them, and it is only childish or "kiddy" by artwork. Now, here are a few games that would get deemed "kiddy," but are great fun. Passing on a game becasue it looks "childish" or "kiddy" is a sad, sad mistake, and it will only leave you to miss out on many good games.
Anyway, the games:
Elebits. Fun, addictive game that lets you run around crazy with a gravity gun. The goal is to find cute, colorful little creatures in order to restore electrical power though. It's artwork, and protaganist (the Elebits) are definitely light hearted and "kiddy" in appearance, but the game is great. Passing on something like this becasue of appearance is stupid, just plain stupid. I mean the least you could do is rent it.
Super Monkey Ball. You play a monkey in a ball, and have to traverse a dangerous course to reach a goal in time.... OMG!!! Forrget about it!!! A Monkey! Damn that crap, where's my chainsaw gun so I can cut that monkey's head off... The game is fun...
Those are the only two I can think of at the moment, but I am thinking you get my drift. Videogames are meant to be a release from the real world, and to be fun. Fun doesn't have to come in the way of genious AI, super realistic graphics, nor in mindless bloody killing. If people would only open their minds to the broader range of games available, I really think they would all be much, much happier in their "gaming lives."

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/12/21/ps3_supply_improving/
the supply of the ps3 isn't the issue... people just aren't as willing to buy it as they are other systems.... too much money... not enough good games... most of the exclusive games are going to be ported to other systems...
Ps3's just aren't selling all that well... as the article states... you can find a ps3 for regular price and not have to get price gouged.... a lot of the ps3's on ebay don't even sell at all.. they just keep getting relisted for lower and lower prices.... I helped a friend of mine get one... the one he bought off of ebay, was listed 6 times before the guy sold it for pretty much the same price he paid for it.... the wall street journal predicted every single bit of this months before the ps3 came out.... people were just buying/hording them so they could sell them on ebay... Which is the only reason they were hard to find... now you can't even really sell them on ebay for much more than what the store sells them for.... I've been to a few stores this week that had them instock on the shelves.... but none of those stores had a wii....
The games for the wii are much more fun. I played call of duty on ps3 at my friends... and after playing it on the wii, playing it on anything else just isn't as fun and feels primitive... sony is going to need a lot more than just 1 or 2 exclusive games in the next 3 years to fix this situation... again, the game sales figures don't nearly match up to the console sales figures.... Id be very suprised if sony could fix the lack of decent games for their system... a lot of developers have completely scrapped the ps3 from their development cycle because the games take too long to make. I'll support dans comp till bmx companies start selling direct to their customers... |

goddamnit how the hell did i get sucked back into this conversation.
why do you think that wii is selling the most? hmmm let's see probably the $250 price tag maybe???? just because it sells the most doesn't make it the best. are ford cars better than ferraris just because ford sells millions of cars while ferrari sells 1000 cars per year? just because most of the public can't afford to buy a ps3 doesn't mean the ps3 sucks. I've got a comp with a quad core QX6700 working with a GTX8800SLI. That comp is better than the Ps3 but not by far and my comp costs 6x's as much as the ps3. the price of the ps3 may be high, but I always have believed that "you get what you pay for" . i have nothing against nintendo, i am just a fan of good video games whether they would be on the ps3, xbox360, or the wii. But from what i have read, most of the elite games are going to be on the 360 pc or ps3 which is why i decided to go with a ps3. too bad nintendo couldnt have kept the perfect dark series for the wii, that probably would have enticed me to buy one.
lol hilarious onion article on ps3 vs. wii:
