I agree with you!
Also, when people ask to try my bike and realize I dont have brakes.  The look I get from them is priceless.

the thing i love is when i am doing tricks in a lot people always pass by and say Tony Hawk does tricks like that and ask me a whole lot of Tony Hawk questions. it always makes me laugh and if you say flatland people always have a blank look on there face.

I know what you guys mean. I don't think it will ever become so mainstream that you don't blow minds. However easy it seems to be to us, there are those who will never know the true joy of a bike & how it effects your soul. As such, they will never reach the level of an amatuer, let alone everyone knowing how to do tricks.

As to the other reply posts in this thread, the Tony Hawk reference is hilarious. I had someone bring him up to me too but they had no idea what thye were talking baout anyway so I just humored them & mildly corrected them. What I do hate is the doof who will watch you & when you have a break go on & on about how great these guys were on TV & basically dissing your efforts because they are not as mind blowing. "What the f*ck man?! Do you know how hard it was to learn what I do?" F*ckin' pricks!

Me too. I love doing simple tricks and having to educate people on my lifeblood EVERY TIME someone comes wandering into my parking lot.

Screw that. I'd rather have it appreciated for what it is rather than some token obscure extreme sport. I'm sick of being dismissed because I don't ride ramps and do backflips.

Flatland in the mainstream in 2006.  8-)

haha my dad did that the last time I saw him.
I think every time a random person gets on my bike that happens.  It's sooo funny just watching their eyes pop open so wide.  :o

edit:  and I really wouldn't mind if it got popular.  That would just mean more people to ride with. :P
Enjoy

i agree yet i don't1 mike here trinidad and tobago, west indies.
for us here its even more frustrating cause to the average kid all riders with pegs should hop when finished doin flat or they ar'ent good and even after a peddalig deathtruck or no handed crackpacker they still ask to see a wheelie.

I kind of had an experience similiar to that.  I was riding at this one park, it's an amazing spot.  Nice smooth basketball court, some tennis courts, a water fountain, close to my house, and usually pretty empty which Is good because I'm kind of a lone rider unless I'm with my friends.

Anyways, I was practicing hang 5's, finally being able to roll them for like about 2 parking spaces or so, and these 2 kids come up to me, one goes on my bus, and asks to ride my bike, trys an endo but can't because my front brake is so messed up, and questions me about how I could get the back up.

Next time someone asks me, I'll just say "Magic."

I hope it goes full on EXTREME MAINSTREAM! ! ! ! That way when I do a trick some random person will yell out "FUCKIN EXTREEEEEME! ! ! !"

No, not really lol. I like that people dont recognize it for what it is, that makes it more personal and in a way, "my" sport. I still love when a young kid who is walking by yess out "MOM! Look at that guy!" I think its funny when a grown person with a fully developed mind can walk by and not even notice someone spinning like crazy on a bike, but a young kid is mezmorized by it.

Oh, and if flatland ever did go mainstream, we will definately have the hottest groupies
