Well do you?

I went into the store today to get a copy but for the first time that i can ever remeber (i have at lest 2000 magazines in my collection) i decided i didnt want to buy it.

And this isnt because of a lack of flatland or other type of similar issue, but quite plainly the layout is shat, the content and whole conception is less interesting than reading a book on teapots.

I am wondering if we will soon see the demise of this magazine and maybe see something that will replace it, as quite frankly the market seems to have no competition at present.

I just scanned through the lastest issue at my local bookstore and without amazement Ride magazine has suffered in content quality for the past several years. I have been involved with BMX since around 1984 and have viewed every type of BMX publication and must say Ride BMX US offers no particular reason to spend 3.99 on their publication. Why is Ride UK such a dramatic difference in layout/size?

I agree with Byke regarding lack of competition, but yet it doesn't justify producing a "lackluster" product month after month. I'm sure this thread will be interesting.

yeah , i see no reason to  get it every month as well!

as far as any flat goes, they should offer more of that  in the neer future- maybe a flat matters  page  like ride u.k.

but month after month i will still flip though it to see if there are any interesting  photos , or  interviews- but never purchase it

Just the ads.

I was so happy when my last suscription expired.
It's basically geared to kids 12-17 years old.

I subscribe to it, read it, enjoy it and contribute to it.  I like it.

It is what it is.  Take it or leave it.  I also enjoy BMX Plus! and all the other mags.

The last time I picked up that magazine it seemed to be heading towards the "70% filler 30% content" production like all the video game magazines have done... Its sad that you pay for 9 or 10 pages of content and get 25-30 pages of ads.... is there more filler in it now than there was 8 months ago?

gave up my subscription about a year ago after faithfully reading since issue 2 or 3.  just abysmal lack of flatland coverage.

Every issue of Ride US's content seems to rely too heavily on the same already overdone "street rider roadtrip" article. "We drove here, had a hard time riding here, got busted here, so and so pulled this crazy rail first try here". It's like "wow, didn't this same exact crap happen to a different group of guys last month?". Like previously stated, this isn't annoying just on a flatland level... but from every other aspect of bmx riding I'd find this content to be narrow-minded in it's approach. Reading an issue of Cream just drives the point home even more; it outclasses Ride US in almost every way: design/layout, balanced content, photography, significance of the news and events it reports on... it's almost like Cream is what the next evolutionary step of Freestylin' would've been if it kept going. BMX Plus! is also doing a great job of covering the sport as a whole, and it's funny because I sometimes even find the race coverage in Plus! more interesting then the stuff in Ride.
I don't hate it. I just don't care to buy it or acknowledge it as being all that significant to the promotion of bmx as a whole right now... even just seeing the word "flatland" turn up in an issue of Ride US is a rarity, and it's usually just some reference by a street rider talking about how he used to ride flat or wishes he still did... ugh.

They should fire everyone and start new again.

I have'nt seen a Ride US in about a good 6 to 8 months because they keep getting pulled from the vendors for not selling.
