ok,

I need some help

I just realised that almost every weekend since the begining of may I have hooked up with different chics,. but it doesnt mean anything because... alcohol was heavily involved.  I have started a drinking habit and I need some serious advice on how to stop., and the girls at bars are never the girls you want to be with longer than one night.

I drink every weekend and during the week now,. Its surprising because last summer I was completely straight edge and didnt touch anything.

does anyone have any advice on how to stop

Its like the lifestyle of the summer promotes drinking
every night people go out and drink ,. I would like to go out and ride instead but its hard when there is no scene, I am a social person and I enjoy the company of others. I have found myself budgeting my paycheque based on how much money I will spend at the bars on the weekend.

if anyone has been through this before , let me know how you dealt with it.

Its hard to say no, when you work a long shift at work and just wanna go out and relax, but then one drink becomes two and two drinks becomes ten,.

It just does not seem a flatland lifestyle to be drinking so much. I have known pro street riders who drink almost every day , but flatlanders seem to strive for the pure lifestyle, I dont know if I am striving for something that I cannot achieve but I woudl really like to stop and maybe get a straight edge girlfriend and leave this lifestyle behind.

My personality has a high addiction potential and I can see myself getting worse as time goes on so any advice woudl be appreicated.

I have gotten many a funny look from people walking by as I curse at the ground, lol.

I curse the ground too,..

damn its called flatland... not bumpy-dip-land.

Go to a party and try not to drink.  The first time I did that I realised how retarded I was when I was drinking.  Also, if you want to quit bad enough its possible.  I quit everything I did straight up, but I'm not really a social person so there's a big difference there.

In terms of the psychological literature on addiction, your best bet is to simply avoid putting youself in the kinds of situations where you will be tempted (i.e. bars, clubs, places that serve booze).

Alot of people struggle with addictions, some occasionally and others more chronically. If you ask me, you need simply to develope your strength of Will (not an insult); by that I mean, if you really want to have a strong character and have power over yourself, set the exact limit as to how much you will allow yourself to drink (say three drinks), before you even get to the bar, and then don't violate your personal oath to yourself at any cost. That's how you gain control, but you have to be very vigilent about it; that means, do it everytime--no exceptions--and if you forget to do it before hand, don't touch a drink. Best wishes, I know how hard it can be.

be the designated driver.  maybe knowing that you're responsible for the saftey of your friends getting home will stop you from drinking.

Maybe showing up at an AA meeting and asking for guidance could work for you...

You said it yourself, "I would rather go riding"...SO GO!!!!! Go ride your bike instead of pounding down a few. The main thing is if you dont want to drink, you cant be around it.
Believe me dude, thats the only way its going to happen. If that means getting new friends, then thats what needs to be done.

I will be 36 in augst, and I have been there and done it all. The main thing is you have to want to stop. and only YOU can make you stop. A nd you might want to try an AA meeting. They arent for everyone, but you never know you might get something out of it. I quit without them, (but Im hardcore lol). Try it and see.... Good Luck

Now, go ride your bike.

I 100% agree with that you can't be around it. its not like you dont like drinking, you just want to stop. so avoid it man. youll be happy you did once youve stopped or cut down if thats what you really want. only you control what you do.

i kno where your comin from. i was in heavy with drugs for 2 straight years (doesnt seem like a long time but im real young) and i didnt even realize how bad it was until my best freind told me straight up i had a drug problem. i was in denial cuz i thought i had it under control but i paid attention to myself after that and realized it sucks. like real bad. i was at home by myself drinking vodka and then downed 2 vicotins and 2 kolanapins and almost died. i was incredibly close to an OD. i had to quit and real soon. it wasnt easy because the freinds i was runnin with was smokin a few times a day and the other freinds were poppin pills and my other freinds were drinking. i had only 2 or 3 people i knew who were basically edge. it was hard for me to vere away from that lifestyle because i was so used to it. like it was said earlier you cant be around it. you need to focus on somethin else besides that. like riding. riding is whats keepin me clean.  i drink rarely if even at all and occasionally ill smoke a bud every couple weeks. but i have piils completely away from me. im not even interested in them at all and im glad im not. my question is are u an alcoholic or just dont wanna drink? if your an alcoholic than you need to stop drinking all together. occupy yourself with riding and focus on that rather than drinking and partying. things will look better in the end.

I've wondered about this myself.  since i started riding i hate waking up hungover cuz i don't get SHIT done.  but i REALLY like beer, so i don't want to quit.  i just laid off a whole lot.  like don't buy more than a six pack in a night and when your out, your out.  works pretty well for me.  i slowly socially sip 6 beers in 4 hours, feel good hang out go to bed.  still wake up to run for soccer and ride for fun.  maybe don't quit completely but set serious boundaries.  and get a girlfriend that dosn't like drinking.  helped me too.

I went to the mall and realized there is a bunch of nothing that i want, so I went to flatlandfuel.com and dropped $150.... damn internet.
