You know it's true.

Hey kids, you wanna go Pro in two years? That is, have a super fast 2 min run for a contest and not have to learn any other tricks? Practice nothing but high speed turbined steam-rollers and maybe throw in a bar flip to tomahawk while you're at it...that's sure to make you look Pro Style!!

Why not knock yourself out and learn some turbined hang-five to McCircles too. Seriously, they are very original. Also, whatever you do, do it as fast as physically possible that is the only way to have Cool-Style!!

That's right, me, teaching the clones of tomorrow...I mean pro's of tomorrow

p.s. Go ahead Teej...tell me that people can do whatever they want, or why not someone tell me, It's FREEstyle" because I've never heard that one before.

I may be a beginner, but I still have eyes and I agree with you all the way. In all these new contests I see videos of, the riding done by 90% of the riders seems to look almost identical to one another with the same links, tricks, and variations for the most part. I saw a video from about 5 years ago and it amazed me. All the riders were mixing it up differently, linking frontwheel to backwheel, actually scuffing things, turbines in their place but not over used, spinning was present, but not over used.... It was great to watch and it was truly entertaining because it wasn't the same basic run with tiny variations done by all the people riding...

The "freestyle" arguement holds water though, but in a different way (in my opinion). It is freestyle, meaning each person should be able to reflect their own feelings and personallity in their riding, yet it seems like anyone who goes against the grain does poorly in the big contests. What is so "free" about that? It's almost like people are being forced to ride freestyle in the way that is most accepted, which takes the "free" right out of it...

I have little ground to stand on for these statements, I admit it, but from what I have seen in my few months, that is just the opinion I have formed and the feeling I get... <shrug>

No, I actually whole heartedly agree.

I've been hit by way too many out of control brakeless idiots who can't control themselves let alone their bikes to know that that shit is beyond played out.

On a more serious note though, why does it matter to you what tricks people are doing? I'm more upset over seeing people showing up to jams, not riding, and failing miserably at the most basic of tricks because they're too busy admiring the paintjob on their new delta or KGB. Yeah, a lot of riders are doing a lot of steamrollers, and they have their place.

You can't force or pressure people into creating, they either will or won't.

I think that style looks great, and if you look close the riders still do the tricks differently.

I dont care how many people do it but I love how it looks usually,

Like I love Adam Kun, Peter Sarlos (sp?), and those guys

I have seen you in videos and personally hate your style (no offence) I just think its boring and not flowy at all,

your opinion is understood but I think alot of people love that style or else they wouldnt be doing those tricks.
I have gotten many a funny look from people walking by as I curse at the ground, lol.

I curse the ground too,..

damn its called flatland... not bumpy-dip-land.

Look for my responses bolded in brackets.

I think that style looks great, and if you look close the riders still do the tricks differently. [What? some wear shirts on their backs and other wear them on their head? They've gone under the microscope and nope, I don't think having a different coloured bike makes the trick any different.]
I dont care how many people do it but I love how it looks usually, [Hey, good for you!]

Like I love Adam Kun, Peter Sarlos (sp?), and those guys [my topic wasn't about homosexuality if you didn't notice]

I have seen you in videos and personally hate your style (no offence) I just think its boring and not flowy at all, [A hater huh? well hate is a pretty strong word and you might as well stick by what you wrote and not pussy-out by adding in the qualifier in brackets. Get all you want out of your 'hate', however, it is offensive to me so,.. fuck you! I don't ride for you, or for 'style'. Fuckin' don't watch my videos then. I don't care what anyone thinks of MY riding for that matter, at least much of it is MY RIDING and not totally copied from someone else. But who cares, people will do what they will, right? And boring huh? Well I'm bored of seing everyone doing the same bullshit lines, in fact, I get pretty bored watching flatland in general so join the attention deficit club. Also, maybe my lines don't 'flow' as much as some others but I have vertigo asshole and couldn't spin too much if I wanted to; nevertheless, I think that my lines flowed fairly well in Un-Real 5]

your opinion is understood but I think alot of people love that style or else they wouldnt be doing those tricks. [Now who's being Captain Obvious?]

----Did people used to do like 47 funky chickens in their run or something ?    <----The new smileys suck by the way. It's not so much that everyone does them (turbined steams) in their run, although that does get old no matter how cool looking it once was, it's that they do it so many times, and have several links built around it with little variation in or out. On the other hand, I'd rather see any rolling trick than scuffing, for gawd's sake don't bring that back.

I agree with Brandon on this one, for the past few years all those comp vids that have been coming out have been getting more and more dull, endless people doing the same shit over and over, in some cases you can predict whats coming next without even knowing the guy. It seemed around the background era everyone had their own kinda distinct style (pro riders that is), now in some cases if you made a vid in bad qual you probabily wouldn't be able to tell who is who. Makes you wonder what phase comes after this...tech? I used to watch online vids and get inspired but it has the opposite effect now. At least flatcrap came along to show there is still signs of life for other riders.

On the bright side, if you go for your own really original style it will stand out well against all the clones...but then if you don't spin you can't win!
