Why don't you make durelectras with a compound that allows brake pads to actually STICK TO THE RIM?
I've had one up front for 4 months and it's just been an uphill battle to get my brakes to work properly on the black surface (said to be just as good if not BETTER than normal chrome).
Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to remedy it?
i am FOOKING FLATLANDER WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS?

Hi!
I've been using mine for about two years, and I like them a lot. I use the brakepads that came with the Evolver, and I have also used Hombre with fiestakit, no problems.
I usually wipe the fat of the rims after I have installed them or changed tires or something, with fatresolver (lack of words here), and I sand down the pads a little.
I don't angle the brakepads at all. They hit the rim flat. Whenever my brakes don't work or grip as well as I'd like them to, I just pour some water or spit on both sides of my rim, and gently press the brakes against the rim as I roll the wheel forwards. They get pretty grippy at once.
Hope some of that works for you.

Yeah i made the mistake of getting a black ody back rim... it holds up fine but brakes suck
Right now i am using ody 1X4 pads with hombre breaks and rubber bands as springs
The trick i learned was toothpaste, I have heard that eats away at your rim but i cant tell any difference other than me being able to stop, and i have done it for about a year
Just take a little shot of aquafresh and rub it on both sides, you dont need a lot at all because the less the stickier
It makes a noise like you hit a flock of ducks for about a day or two of riding but then it works fine for months

Full Ody setup all the way through, Cable, Lever, Brake, Pads. Black Ody rim. Works a treat.
