| I VERY RARELY come onto this website anymore... long story short... I don't have the time to ride anymore, nor do I feel the desire to... it simply left my spirit. Why I was drawn to this website, and particularly Nick's post is beyond me, but I saw it, I read it, and I thought about it. I honestly didn't know how to respond to it at first, and in a way, I still do not know how to respond to it now. I tried to respond in the thread but apparently it's locked. I know locked threads shouldn't be reopened, but I think it's only fair that I get to voice my opinion being that I'm now 1 of probly 3, or 4 other vets that actually used to come to this website, and talk about bmxing, or just shoot the breeze in general. Like I mentioned earlier, I really don't know how to respond to this thread. It's one of the first of it's kind I've ever come across. After reading nicks post I was filled with changing emotion, a sudden burst of anger, then disappointment, then sadness, and finally understanding had taken over my body. I was angry at how easily you all lost track of what memorial day is... it has nothing to do with the GWOT, it has nothing to do with this administration, it has nothing to do with Iraq. It has to do with Nate Bruckenthal, it has to do with James Cathey, it has to do with Darrell Cole, it has to do with everyone buried in Arlington, everyone who's been drapped under the colors, it has to do with RESPECT. It doesn't matter what the current situation is in Iraq, it doesn't matter who's in office, their price is paid in full, you owe them your respect whether you want to believe it, or not. That's what memorial day is about. I was disappointed in how nobody could remember this. How no one brought it up. We're all so stuck up in our day to day living, so stuck up in our hatred for the current administration, so stuck up in our own righteousness, that on the ONE DAY that we are asked to remember those that have DIED in service to our country. We totally fuck it up, and get into a pissing match over semantics, what we think about current U.S. Foreign Policy, and a bunch of other stuff that comes nowhere near the importance of the day. I was saddened to think that nobody can remember the warriors of the past, and what they fought for. but finally the understanding came... and I wasn't angry, disappointed, or sad any longer. I now understood clearly. Nick, I may not agree with your opinon but I will defend you, and your right to say it. (This is my final post on Pedal. I no longer BMX, and no longer have a purpose on this board. It's been a fun few years, I've made many friends in real life, and online through this website. Thank you.) No one serving in Iraq is serving the intrest of the United States or the American people. They are not protecting our freedom, spreading democracy, or brining peace to another country.![]() | |

| Dude, just let that other thread die. Its why I was mad in the other thread, it went completely off subject and it stopped being about whats most important. Its about honoring those who have served this country. | |

| I would like to thank our soldiers for contributing to fascism.......I would like to thank them for making America a safer place for all illegal aliens..........I would also like to thank them for being a contributing factor in our 3 dollar a gallon and above gas price......What I would really like to thank them most for is the killing of thousands of innocent children in Iraq and Afganistan........Let us give thanks............... | |

what makes you say that we don't remember the past? maybe we're so mad about the present BECAUSE we remeber the past. maybe we see what they fought for going down the drain. i think it really presumtuous of you to accuse people of not remebering the past because you disagree with them. | |
