| Alright, very short story about how absent minded I really am and why headphones are dangerous.
I was coming home from school not just a half hour ago when I see my bus across the street. This bus comes only once every half hour so Im in a rush to get there. I look across the street and the light turns green, which usually means people coming from the other side stop! well.....they didnt. I almost get nailed head on by an ambulance and as I run foreward, another car comes right past me and i think it clipped my jacket. Needless to say people were calling me a dumbass left and right, and rightfully so. Im sure i traumatized the ambulance driver and the lady in the other car, as well as many onlookers who all had some choice words for me. Right after I just hopped on the bus and took my headphones off while still in shock. I get home and I remember very little because it was all a big huge blur. And my mp3 player was apparantly still going while in my pocket. If you cant imagine how close I was, I was sandwhiched in the middle of 2 lanes between an ambulance and a car...ambulance up against my backpack and car up against my jacket. Im surprised i didnt shit myself. But I am still in shock at how close I came. I'll look for myself on the news tonight "Local idiot runs out in the middle of traffic". The moral of the story, LOOK BOTH WAYS DAMNIT! | |

| tha ambulance and the car ran the red light? im not realy sure what your discrbing here, and did you see either one of them? or did just all of a sudden a you see a car infront of you and an ambulance passes behind you? I got hit by a car on my bike one time, but they were turning so they were going alot slower, and it was their fault so i got some money. | Im pretty sure I was zoned out. My guess was they ran the red light and since ive been at that intersection at least twice a day, I would assume they would stop. But, i wasnt hit, just my jacket and backpack. So, I see the walk sign, I walk, i look, and im still zoned out probably, and I keep walking, hear horn, look, and theres an ambulance screeching to a stop. so I run foreward and didnt see the other car since the ambulance was huge and it stops. so...yeah. I assume this is the kind of traumatic event that haunts you into adulthood...cool, I wonder if I'll be able to cross the street again without being yelled at.
and yes, im probably crazy..or stupid, or both. and this reminds me of a time i was hit by a car..kind of. I was like 14 and this guy was making a left hand turn and he hit me and my bike but he was going so slow it was just kind of a nudge that was enought to sent my forks out of alignment. lol, man ive had many close calls but today was the closest. | |

| lol this reminds me of a time me and my freinds were riding home and we were just crossing tha street when my freind got naild...even though tha car was goin really slow but it was fast enough for my freind to roll on tha hood but nuthin happend to him
but wen that happend i was right behind him so when he got hit all i could do was fall to tha ground....luaghing | |

| I've been hit before by a person, hit my back rim of my bike, it really just threw me off, all the dammage was on my bike.
Best thing for me is I have hit a car before with my bike. I know everyone has gotten into this situation before. I'm riding down a local main road, in a section where I'm going down hill. I'm on the side walk on the right side heading in the correct traffic direction. When I hear a car speed up next to me, its a 35mph road, the cars are doing 40mph or a little faster, I'm doing about 30-35mph, and the car that was sort of riding next to me, hits his gas to speed up, so he is moving faster than me. I guess you can't feel that special when a kid on a bike is going as fast as your car, but whatever. Then all of a sudden after he gets ahead of me by about 3 car lengths, he slams on his brakes and throws a right turn at the up coming street. Well my only choice to stop in time from a 30-35mph roll on a bike is to lock the brakes, turn the bike sideways, and try to lay-it down. Well the laws of inertia being what they are, I lock my brakes, turn the bike sideways right before I'm about to be touching the street, and I get flung into the air in the direction I was heading, My bike flipped and popped his car, breaking his passenger side mirror, I land on his hood, and since he was moving promptly rolling up his winsheild and getting an extra little boost of launchingness, get thrown about 10 feet in the air, thank god that I was able to kind of control my body after the second pop in the air, and I kind of land on my feet and roll, minimizing what could have been pain for me. He stops, I get up and charge his car, hes going to open his door and get out, and I kicked his door shut. Looked at him right in his face, and said, "If you say a word to me about what just happened, I will drag you out the car and run your head over." I never remember being more mad in my entire life. Later on that day though, I cooled down alot, realizing how bad it could have been. I sort of felt bad for the guy in the car, because I threatened him, and meant ever word of it. First time I ever told anyone I was going to basicly kill them and really meant it. Needless to say the guy took off, I picked my bike up, it was fine, so I continued on my journey. To this day, I still wish I can see that guy again, just to appologize for threatning him like I did. But I'm sure he is more careful when he drives now too. | |

| ah thats awesome haha, wouldve been even cooler if someone had filmed it.. although someone randomly filming you crossing the street would be strange
one time i got hit by a car on the sidewalk, i was riding into town, and i was on the middle of the sidewalk and some dumbass lady just turns right into the bank (so the sidewalk started out as like a driveway for the bank), she looks at me, slams on her brakes (shes in front of me) except shes blocking the whole sidewalk and i had like less than a second to react, i was just about to put my foot on the top of my back tire to stop (i was hauling some ass) and i slammed into right about where her headlight is, i might have done a flip, i doubt it, but i dont remmeber, all i remember is about to hit it, and then picking my bike up and learing half of my front spokes were busted out ]  | |
