"Iran to hang teenage girl attacked by rapists"

http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/4701/17_Year_Old_Girl_Sentenced_To_Death_By_Hanging

So I know that not all Muslims are fundamentalist, and they aren't all terrorists. BUT...
shouldn't the Muslims that are against all of this speak out?
A girl in Iran is sentenced to death because 3 men raped her, and in the process she stabbed one of the men and he died. Does anyone in the Muslim world care to protest this? Because I haven't seen anything in the news about any outrage or disgust with the lack of her rights to defend herself from 3 men trying to rape her.
I know all Muslims aren't fundamentalists, but they might as well be if they can't stand up for this woman's cause.

I think part of the problem lies in the fact that many Muslims in the Middle East cannot read. Therefore they cannot interpret their own holy scriptures on their own, and have to take their opinion and beliefs from someone else. When they hear of Muslims being killed by Americans, they react violently and rightfully so. But to stand by and let something like this happen seems pretty sad to me, and makes me question the claims that "defining all Muslims based on fundamentalists and radicals is like defining all Americans based on the KKK". At least when the KKK goes on their stupid little marches, everyone gathers to ridicule them.

That shit happens here to.

Somebody robbed a house, and fell through a skylight onto the kitchen table, impaling himself on a knife. He sued the homeowners and won. Right here in the good ole US.

Don't act like ridiculous shit like that only happens in the Middle East. You should be more complaining that humans are retards.

You almost made my point for me.

Now people go to marches to ridicule them, but it wasn't that long since they stuck fear in people. We are talking about 40 years or so before people started standing up to them. Seriously that is not long ago.

There have been a few isolated cases where some insane decision was made. But what you mentioned was an exception, and everyone here knows that its rediculous. I can find you a good number of cases where this shit happens in Iraq, because it happens all the time. Just a few months ago a girl was put to death for being raped, on the charges that she did not act with chastity. It sounds crazy but it happens way too often. If you want I can post a link to that story as well, but I doubt it would change your mind.

Some Christian couples choose to live in a way that is very old-fashioned. The woman stays home and takes care of the house and homeschools the kids, and the man works. But there is absolutely no Christian teaching that says men are to be held more important than women.
If you could find me a case where there are Christians that believe that, then they are the exception, not the rule. In Iran, this is how it is, this is not an exception. And nobody over there seems to see anything wrong with this. If they do, they aren't making much fuss about it, which makes them just as bad as the rapist and the judge.

Ephesians 5:22-23 ”Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”

1 Peter 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

A matter of interpretation of course. But so are the Muslim teachings.

Actually, the Koran is seen as the literal word of God so there is no room for interpretation. At least that's the way a large percentage of Muslims see it.

Don't forget, according to the Bible, I'm not allowed to go to church, because I wear glasses. Seriously, it's in there somewhere.

^^ Good point. Taking verses out of the Bible and out of context is useless for the sake of argument. It proves nothing. The bible says "if your eyes cause you to sin, remove them." Do you really think this is to be taken literally?
And what do Bible verses about men and women have to do with our society, where the norms and customs involve equal status. I guess you must not have a strong case or you would have expanded on why you posted 2 completely out-of-context Bible verses that have nothing to do with American life or legal system.

The Bible and Qu`ran are both pseudo-historical texts, that when taken literally are very dangerous. Don't even both talking about context, because they're dangerous both in AND out of context. They both contain verses condoning murder, and other such non-sense. Anyone who takes either of them literally is a VERY dangerous person, who needs to seriously re-examine what their beliefs are based upon.

Here's just FIVE examples of some good bible quotes.

Kill People Who Don't Listen to Priests
Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

Kill Witches
You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)

Kill Homosexuals
"If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Leviticus 20:13 NAB)

Kill Fortunetellers
A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)

Death for Hitting Dad
Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)
