So I was watching Joe Kid again (and again, and again), and there are 2 pieces of footage from KJ that really baffle me.

i think he called it the roller coaster hub. it was a suntour hub with some modified bendix guts if i remember correctly. i had a buddy who built one up about 10 years ago and learned a bunch of pedal tricks on it before it broke. I believe they called it an "Eastcoaster" it was a modified coaster hub that would make the pedals lock when you pedal backwards like a coaster brake but with no braking mechanism so the wheel would still roll.

I thought it up and designed it. kevin built it and we both rode them. I'll have to put one in a wheel for you to try some time. There's no excuse for being a dickhead.

im sure you just take the brake shoes out of the hub, but leave the brake arm that stops the pedals from moving on...

My current coaster has about 20 yeats of abuse on it, and is on my old Haro - would love to convert the Quamen back to the coaster again! But back on topic - yeah, I'd definitely like to check one of these out sometime! Pretty much as old skool as you get...
