heya

I'm thinking about getting a new crankset if I get some $$ for christmas, like I usually do...

is KHE the only company that has bottom bracket adapters? That's all I saw @ FF and yeah.. It would be nice if Oddy made one or a more respectable brand.

I'm ridin an 01 micromachine.
That has an american bb correct??? If I do get a new crankset, I'd like to be able to get a euro crankset with an american bb adapter, so the cranks will work on any new frame I get in the future.

So what's the word? Any other Bottom bracket adapters!?!

^^ That was exactly my thinking, when I bought the adaptor for my KHE Unique w/ american bb. Most frames are euro so I couldn't justify buying a new crankset that fits an american bb.

I think the KHE one is fine. Dan's Comp (danscomp.com) also sells an adaptor, but I am not sure what brand, I just know it's not KHE.

Most mountain bike shops have really inexpensive bolt through type bb adapters (like 10-20 bucks). HOWEVER, with these and all other adapters that have a taper fit AND bolts, there is a risk of stretching out your bb shell when it is tightened down, i.e you won't be able to use anything other than the adapter in that shell in the future. Be careful!

I've never taken a crank apart/replaced it so I didn't even know this was possible. I just always assumed euro cranksets only fit euro bottom bb, etc. But from what you're saying, it sounds like any normal cranks themselves, should funtion with a euro bb or us bb.. sweet

I'm liking the 41 thermals.
So If I get an american set, I should be able to go back and get a euro bb later, and that should function with the cranks that came in the us set?

allrighty then :)

^^ No, that isn't the case.

Certain crank arms work with certain bottom brackets/spindles. You need to make sure which ones are interchangeable.
I think the Bizhouse crankset could have Primo crank arms put on, but I'm not positive on that.

I've never seen a crank arm that would fit the Haro cranks that came on my '99 Master, it's a splined pattern (so crank arms made for a square tapered spindle wouldn't work obviously).

I'm sure when you buy from Pat he could let you know all the ones that are interchangeable, as my experience with cranksets is limited. I've had the same Haro cranks for the past 3 yrs or so.

Profilese are easily interchangable... and a euro bb that fits it is really cheap. so if you buy profiles or anything with the same size spindle as profiles, you know that you wont have a problem running the cranks on a euro or american bb..

I'll support dans comp till bmx companies start selling direct to their customers...
