well it seems [alteast in my school] that more kids are starting to take up "riding" and when i say riding, it means they buy an expensive bike and try to feeble little ledges and think theyre tough

is anyone elses school being taken over by riding posers? it seems like all the skater posers are now switching to riding and it bugs me becuase they follow us (the kids that ride because we like it and not becasue its the cool thing to do) around everywhere

and then these kids that have been riding for like 3 weeks think they can call me a pussy because i ride flat?
haha

anyway.. anyone else being overcome by riding fags?

luckily enough no, not really big enough of a scene here for a bmx trend but its cool because the few skaters that are real skaters have a bond with the riders so its all good

yeah, its like that around here too. you have the mtb to bmx converts (i'm one of them) and some are cool, but some are big fags. and theres also the kids who buy bmx's because theyre trendy as fuck now and just ride them to school and talk about what parts theyre gonna upgrade next. ive been riding bmx for about a year after mountain biking for about 3. its funny because i was riding bmx long before it was trendy or "cool" to ride bmx bikes, and i get these little shit kids who got mommy to buy them an 800 dollar bike so they can be cool, talking shit to me about how im just a trend whore and i just ride because its cool. they then proceed to try and bunnyhop a curb, fail and get a flat. i then proceed to laugh and ride away.

Hopefully a few of them will actually stick with it. Stop complaining, I'd rather ride with "posers" then no one.

i wouldn't. ive tried to get along. i went on a couple rides with a bunch of people around my area. we meet up, go to one spot, they ride for about 5 minutes, then sit and talk for about 40 minutes, and whenever i ask if we can move on, all of a sudden everyone has a new line they wanna try, then they get bored and go home to play playstation. i would rather ride alone.

my town Keswick, Ontario is being overrun by ghetto kids on bmx. thy have started spraypainting BMX everywhere, thinking its cool. a few of them are good, while the other think they are cool because they can drop in and ride out of the bowl at out park.

they are snotty little retarded faggots that give bmx a bad name in my town. i feel embarassed to be riding a bike near them.

i dont find its much of skateboarders switching to bxm, but a few have. it seems ever since i switched from flatland to street, 20 more "bikers" appeared here. i can say (proudly and confidently) that i was one of the main starters of the bmx scene in my town. i start riding flat, a few bikers start up. i start riding street, 20 more "riders" show up. the reason i say they are ghetto is because they live in our ghetto. welfare apartment buildings, dirty as hell, and i would be ashamed to live there myself. they STEAL bikes form everyone. there is probably 4-5 bikes stolen per week here, and my town is no bigeer then 3miles across, and probly 2 wide. eveyrone know who it is that does it too, but no ocne takes action. becasue of THAT, i keep my bike in my room with me (i dont live in apartments, i live in the upper-class area in a nice little subdivision, but you can never be too careful).

now, all these "riders" that keep popping up, are rdiging either:

a) a haro
b) some old piece of shit bike they think they make cool because they took off the brakes
c) a stolen decent bike
d) a new haro or free agent or diamondback, bought from our local "shop" (which i worked at for a few months and it sucks ASS)
e) w/e they can get thier hands on with 20" wheels

a month before i quit riding completly, i was on a 24" mtb i used for park (bmx got too small). a week after i quit riding completely, half of those new "bmx riders" had 24" bikes. most of which were old pieces of crap, or smething again bought from our local "shop".

wanna know their "hardcore" tricks? a half-assed feeble or double-peg stall, or an "air" out of the bowl (2 feet maybe?). ive seen some attempted tailtaps, and a lot of them are even trying to copy my mini nose manuals over the sub box. you knwo whats worse? these kids just sit there 80% of the time doing nothing. some of the bolder ones will attempt a trick now and then, but most will do 3 or 4 "trix" in an hour or so.

im embarassed to ride in my town, because of what these little ghetto, asshole, idiot posers are doing to the face of bmx. a idiot lasts a few weeks, spraypaint on the private walla and public sidewalks is imprinted in poeples' minds for a much longer time.

Then ditch them and go ride where you want to if you would rather ride alone why would you ask a but of "posers" permission to go to the next spot.

and think of it this way, we were all posers at one point in time! you didnt just get on you bike and become a true bike rider over night, no, you followed the older guys around because you didnt know whats up yet, and you didnt do any tricks because you were new at it and couldnt, and all the spots you follow the guys to were out of you league, mabey your different but i rember a time when i could barly bunny hop and didnt do any thing on street rides because all the ledges were to high, i didnt just pick up a bike when i was 13 and grind down a 10 stair rail.

I do think its funny though when kids that have been riding less then a year have a super nice bike, i had a shity bike for the first 2 or 3 years i rode, i started on a mongoose and slowly got better parts when i needed them and could aford them, (alough thoughs two things rarly coencided, i rember riding an old unsealed back wheel as a front wheel for a long time.)
