box jump in limited space - Help!

	I think I have enough room to build a box jump and need some advice. there is about 12 - 14 feet or so of room to build some sort of roll in to get speed, then there is 40 feet of flat empty driveway and then there is enough space for the box jump, followed by a quick right turn into the backyard :) . anyway I think I can make it work. My main question is what kind of roll in would I need to get enough speed to jump it. I will have the 40 ft. where I can get a few extra cranks in. Any suggestions on geeting enough speed? How tall and steep and wide should the roll in be? thanks!

	I want the box jump to be either four or five feet tall, with 8 ft. flat on top, and as long of a landing as I can fit - maybe 14 ft. I like the quarter pipe idea but I might have a problem getting enough speed to hit the quarter in the 40 ft. I guess I could start on top of the box jump, hit the quarter, turn and then hit the box, would that work better or as well as a tall roll in? limited space is my enemy :x

	the quarterpipe idea is probably better than building a roll in. I've done some demos where we had a box 4 feet high with an 8 foot deck, the landing was about 8 feet long, definately not longer than that, and it had a bit of tranny to it at the bottom. we had only 40-50 feet to get speed, and no roll in. i found that that was plenty of room to make it over the box without any problems. if you're going to be doing any kind of 360s or anything on this box, i'd make it no skinnier than 8 feet wide. when learning 360s, many riders tend to drift right to left or left to right in the air. the wide the box is, the better for avoiding some nasty spills. a 14 foot landing would be so mellow, you'd have a hard time landing smoothly on it. you'd be talking high impact landings. i'd say build the landing a bit steeper and give it a little tranny at the bottom to smooth things out. as far as a quick right turn into the backyard, you can either stick another quarterpipe directly after the boxjump, or build some kind of a berm/bowl corner to help you make it without crashing into the fence or neighbors yard or whatever youve got to make a quick turn to avoid. there are a lot of different options and things to consider, but a lot of it isnt too hard, just think about what you'd want to have there as youre riding this thing. click here to see my gallery at CNYBMX
