One of the worst things about the cen-cal area for riding is the hellishly hot summers. Today we're at 104 degrees. I rode for about an hour and a half and I was completely spent. It is definitely the season for night riding or taking a vacation somewhere cool. If you ride during the day in this heat, make sure you drink lots of water and take breaks in the shade - heat stroke is a common thing these days and if your not careful you could take yourself out for good. Any stories of heat sickness?

I rode for ten minutes the other day and I was soaked through my underwear. Gotta find an indoor spot, ya know. And for once im wearing shorts! :shock: I never do that! Always wear a hat when I ride, shorts everything. Could empty a liter of water every 1 5minutes or so. Be thankfull there's low humidity. It really kills you at night, when it's still hotter than nuts.  | |

The heat definitely sucks - the spot I rode at today has this covered area and a couple of cops rolled out and parked there with their A/C on, just watching me practice. They probably were thinking they had it pretty good but they weren't the only ones getting paid in a parking lot. So was I. Except for the fact that I was pushing the limits on my bike, spinning, coasting and creating a stir all while they sat on their asses getting fatter.
