this sucks just got kicked out of the only place to ride in my town which is the school tennis courts and the lady was so frekin mean i told her i would leave and was just trying to talk with her and she was treating me like some kind of mental regect i was like alright ill leave and tried to explain to herr why i was riding there you know connect with her and shit and explain that flatlanding is a respectable sport and that it had respectable people and she started getting really nasty and treated me like special ed and like i diddn't matter and tennis was the only sport. she wouldnt even let me talk she just kept cutting me off mid sentance acting like i was insulting her or somthing. the nerve of these people i just wanted her to understand where i was coming from and she treated me like an outcast i very respectable listened to her tell me why i couldt ride there and she would not give me the same respect. and the worst part is im the only flatlander in my town or anywhere near my town so its hard enough already without unreasonable people treating me like rotten milk on crack. so i don't know what to do now thanks for letting me vent

anybody want to share stories of annoyingly disrespectable people you met while riding ??

You should have calmed down a bit, then wrote this post. That is seriously one HUGE run-on sentence.

It sucks, but it does happen, and even though most times, we arent doing anything but riding and having fun, People see it as "tresspassing" or "vandalism" or i have even heard the words " insurance issue". It sucks for sure, but it comes with the territory.

2 Options are left, 1: Go when the bitter old hag is gone, or 2:Find a new spot.

Good Luck.

Cops really arent too big of a deal, If they do come, explain your situation, tell them you HAVE no where else to go, and at least you arent robbing banks or doing drugs 8)

Just Curious, Where do you live?

Yeah, that sucks.

Most likely she was being "by the book" or whatever, and better safe than sorry attitude.
Probably real degenerates have have hung out there and got kicked out before, so her mentality is suited accordingly.

Maybe shes just an unhappy miserable bitch type that gets off on controlling people she feels she has easy controll over.

At any rate, its most likely no tresspassing to begin with.

If you really wanna take this to the next level, and feel you got something to say.....Write the lady a letter or something. And be super cool and just explain why you were there and what you were doing, Just let her know it makes you happy to ride and while yer there you can make her aware of real vandals tearing shit up.....I know this might be gay or whatever,
but I think people can be reached on a deeper level when they read it on paper outside the context of the debate you were having at the tennis courts.

she was probably only jealous of your skills in all actuality

You can't go wrong with something like that, How could they NOT let you ride?

Unfortunately if you're riding on property that isn't yours, its not really a matter of respect. Does it suck? Sure, but its just a matter of life. Trying to explain a sport to a person who wants you off their property is never going to go over well.

I'm sure you can go back to that spot, you're just going to have to deal with avoiding people.

Even now I ride on the tennis courts and basketball courts by my apartment, and if someone comes and wants to play tennis or basketball I just pick up my stuff and go somewhere else, even if it means riding in a crappy parking lot thats on way too steep of a hill.

Unfortuantely it still comes down to liability and property damage. Even if you sit there with full body pads and a full face helmet, you're doing something you're not supposed to be doing and if you get hurt, it becomes their problem. Now we as flatlanders know we're not going to break our backs and sue the school, but the people in charge aren't going to see it that way.

As far as writing letters, frankly I think you'd be better off just riding when shes not around, and when you see her coming to tell you to leave, you leave. I would definately not suggest having them call the cops and then try to explain yourself to the police, because chances are they're going to treat you worse then the woman is.

Life isn't always fair, but you do what you have to.
