Re: Geisha: Help, please and thanks. posted on 2007-01-14 10:27:57

If you have added the 14mm studs then you already have a Geisha Street hub. The hubs are completely identical except for the axle studs and the color.

I appreciate Nick's effort as well. He really has a passion for this. It also seems like Nick is accepting of suggestions and comments. So my 2 cents would be that the value of pedal is the community and not so much the layout. So keep it simple and easy to use. For example the http://www.phpbb.com/ style boards like the one Bobby mentioned are classic. Anyone that comes to one of those boards knows how to use it. Super user friendly. Using one like that may not be original but it does provide a great place for the bmx community to gather and interact. And that is the whole point of Pedal isnt it? So keeping working hard Nick. Be true to yourself but dont let Pedal fizzle out. That can happen fast in the online world.

The last post before this one was 42 HOURS ago. Where is everyone? Has the online flatland community moved and someone forgot to tell me?  :)

Re: what happened to Unity Bikes? posted on 2006-10-30 15:23:14

Dennis, I havent heard from you in a while. Glad to see you are back. Unity did not get bought out by KGB :) If I remember right Frank was really busy with the shop he was at and didnt have time for Unity so its on the backburner for now. That should be fairly accurate anyway.

Bad news (for some). No brake mounts.

And, once again, no brake mounts. Great.  :|

i was thinking the same too when i saw the frame.I think every frame should come with at least removable brake mounts if people dont want them they could screw them off.
I agree. Removeable mounts are definitely the way to go. The new St. Martin frames will be coming with them. Hopefully other companies will follow suit.

WTP has a habit of making prototypes for pics without mounts but then offering the frame WITH mounts. The specs on the WTP site list the frame with mounts. I have a stack of these frames at flatlandfuel that just arrived today. I havent cracked them open yet but I will in the morning. I will let you know then if they have mounts or not. My money is on the mounts :)

I think you sould ask flatlandfuel to import them with the information Andras gave you. The taiwanees compiens are damm fast so i don't think you'll have to wait long.

And lik WTF you sell them for 4 USD and Le Cremiere for 20 euro's
already ahead of you. We ordered them a week ago. It will take a month or two for them to arrive though.

Am I the only flatlander who's wishing this? :? :? :?
You know, less than 75° is sooooo 80's. 8-)

76.5 is always available as a special order through flatlandfuel. Quamen will make it for us. As long as you can be patient for it.

heavy compared to current frames but very strong and nice geometry that works good for both flat and street. An employee of mine is selling his. Call flatlandfuel and ask for Chris if you want one.

you are probably right as far as the mike s bars being discontinued, maybe there is an updated version in the works, i wouldnt be too worried about performance/quality.  if you have ever seen mike s ride, he puts his bike through hell, and they hold up. i dont have any personal experience with any of the bar/stem combos, but i would choose the mike s over the khe and sequence
Not discontinued nor is there a new version in the works. The current design is well proven and strong so no change is necessary. The US distributor for Dragonfly imported waaaaaay too many of the Mike S Bars. They eventually sold us a large number at a big discount. We pass the discount on to you. That is why they are on sale.

Pat, i'm wondering if you still stock wheels pre-built with these hubs - that is... if you do get them.

and a price compared to a nankai. we'll have to see.

also- are these in fact sealed?

thanks
-neil
We probably will not stock pre-built wheels with these hubs. Doing that would give the impression that we approve of these hubs and it will be a while until we have the confidence to do that. It is important to me to offer good quality products that wont be a headache to you. Even good freecoasters give some people fits so we would start slow with these hubs. I am waiting on a new sample to see if its better than the first sample I got. I know that the latest Ares hub had a couple of changes from the original to improve things so I am hoping Taska did the same on their own version. Yes, they are sealed.

Re: Maybe some of you have been waiting for a cheap freecoaster... posted on 2006-10-13 15:20:31

Ok, so I got a couple of these hubs earlier this year to test and they didnt work that great. They were definitely not as consistent as Nankais. We put one on Dave Petrins bikes and he did not like it. So that is one of the reasons we have not pursued getting these Taska hubs. But with this thread we are getting a ton of requests for them. With taxes, duty, shipping, etc tacked on these hub will cost $60-$70 in the US. Would you be willing to buy one at that price if the hub has no history and no warranty? If you are, we may get them. The problem with selling low end freecoasters is that while they may not cost much they are a pain in the ass if they dont work well because you have went through the trouble and expense to lace them into a wheel. So give me some feedback on that and maybe we can do something.
