Re: Not a vegan but this..... posted on 2006-11-06 10:46:30

well, if you want to make a BIG difference in this area, get yourself sterilized

get your friends sterilized too

this, like so many problems we have today is caused by a runaway population rate. Years ago we wouldnt even THINK of eating factory farmed animals, but today we realize there is not enough room on the earth to free range enough meat for a significant part of the populace

And if you baby factories keep squirting em out, its gonna get worse.

How long till some guy comes along and says "hey if we chop off their legs we can fit more of them in a cage" ?

Yes, of course evolutionist don't try and come up with an origin of how evolution got started to begin with.  Because they can't.
Ahh the good ol' "God of the Gaps" logical fallacy. We dont yet know the answer so:

gawd did it

Worked well for ancient man:

"where does rain come from"?

gawd did it

"whats that lightning stuff???"

gawd did it

People told columbus not to sail too far west or he'd fall off the edge of the world

The "argument from personal incredulity" fallacy rears its head too. This is why the "intelligent design" nonsense got shot down so easily, it boils down to "I cant imagine how this could have happened so, gawd did it"

Environmental factors suddently make non living matter living?  News to me.
define "living"

is a virus alive?

Does fire also fit your definition?

What about rust?

matter cannot be destroyed.  what part of that don't you understand? lol you don't know anything.
Want to give a definition of matter, as an indestructable quantity?

This one was REALLY hard for me to wrap my head around but look at the equation, E = mc(squared) for a while

It seems to me that the equation can be taken to mean that mass IS energy and energy IS mass. What we define as matter may be just energy behaving a certain way.

To put it on a way bigger scale (but still really tiny), look at an atom model. They say the electron is going so fast, that it can be thought of as being all along its orbit at once. So its not so big, may not actually "be" at all, but if you are coming towards it it will feel like a wall. When scientists run particles in atom smashers, they find they need the same velocity to hit a nucleus as they do to hit a nucleus and an electron.

Im sure I got a good chunk of this wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservation_of_mass

So matter could be destroyed, as in converted to energy and not violate the net zero energy of the universe

I love that Answers In Genesis site. They keep adding and adding and adding to the list of arguments not to use, and then they just re-word the arguments and use 'em again until somebody finds the right way to re-word the refutations and the arguments go back to the list. It's like a little game.
they still got us beat though...Until a scientist can bring a technique to counter "The Gish Gallup" we will keep "losing" the open ended public debates.

I nominate Josh Smalls of the MB BMX Crew, with his incredible smack talking skills and "colorful " use of the english language to spend a week with richard dawkins so he can learn enough to take on Kent Hovind

Oh wait

Dr Dino is going to jail!

nyuk nyuk

maybe he can take on Ted Haggard?

ooops...hes busy too :)

Josh Smalls Vs Duane Gish will be the fight of the century

1)  The law of abiogenesis states that living matter cannot come from matter that isn't living.  This kind of makes the whole evolution thing hard to get going.
Luckily for evolution, this Cameronism is thrown out because the theory of evolution makes ABSOLUTLEY no claims about the origin of life

none

zippo

nada
2) Genetic mutation is 99.9% deleterious (bad) and to think that this will somehow spring up humans from nothing is insane.
The theory of evolution makes no claim that humans will spring from nothing.

Thats actually a creationist claim...as in what created the creator?

good luck with that one.
Oh yeah, and the lack of transitional skeletons (which in theory should be more plentiful than skeletons from species that made it) speaks poorly of evolution.
This one has been tossed out so many times for absurdity I dont even think Kent Hovind would use it. Instead he says "you cant prove those fossils had any kids " :)

Transitional forms abound. That the YEC's keep moving the goalpost everytime one is found is no longer of any concern

since there is plenty of historical documentation of someone who claimed to be God and demonstrated supernatural powers to prove it.....i choose to believe that instead of darwins speculations.  the critics dont convince me.

Care to name ONE extra-biblical source that supports the historicity of abrahamic religions?

I warn ahead of time not to try to pull the Josephus Cameronism, because he CERTAINLY would have also reported the killing of all the newborns among claims of dead walking all over the place and such.

Re: GOD posted on 2006-11-05 15:00:30

Oh my

You know there is a set of silly and long ago disproven arguments Young Earth Creationists make that theyve been given the term "cameronisms" after actor Kirk Cameron who still uses them in preaching videos

If you want to avoid looking like a boob, theres a creationist site telling which arguments to avoid

http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/faq/dont_use.asp

The second law of thermodynamics does NOT cause entropy in a system where energy is being put in constantly and directed

How the HELL you think your refrigerator works man???

If this second law means what you think it does, your eggs would be spoiling as we speak

Re: removing grips posted on 2006-11-05 14:25:50

Back when I actually used my bike for transportation, I would encounter wet areas, and worse, wet dirty areas. One spill with your bar digging into wet grass or mud is enough to give you a throttle grip. I suppose the bar ends could help that to a dregree

To me those locking grips were like 14mm axles

I dropped to the ground and thanked Magoo that these gifts from heaven had graced the mortal soil!. Shinguards were another bit of manna and 990's...we really do have it pretty good now!

If only someone would have the testicular fortitude to make a 9/16 system for the Nankai hub

Re: removing grips posted on 2006-11-05 11:09:03

Of all the miracles of modern BMX, one that always jumps to the top for me is locking grips

After busting my self up on gut levers back in the 80's because of stupid throttling grips, Or watching dirt jumpers pull a grip in midair, I would think people would use these locking systems

dont tell me its a weight thing?
