Keep in mind that the reason TenPack stopped it was because all of the flatlanders bitched about space, size, judging and everything. If they couldn't do it right, they didn't want to do it. And what did flatlander's do about it? NOTHING..we just kept bitching about them not having it...We did the same to Wade Nelson.

that is why the old guys decided it was time to get organized and do something about it...and make it positive...enough people don't like flatland, so we really do not need to alienate ourselves further from BMX in general...well, we can give ICE MONEY to racing..deal?

also..just a side note: I really like beer and cider...and pizza buns..man I ate 12 of those last weekend.

Jay is an awesome guy and we don't mean any disrespect. These were two seperate events on the same weekend and that is the only connection.

Comparing this event to previous Metro's is not the issue. We might aswell be comparing them to Elsinore events, or the Welch's Wild Ones and Rick Davis promotions!.....you guys don't know what I mean, but let's just keep purple ramps and leather out of it!

Just to keep things in perspective...the Toronto Bike Show is 20 years old, and BMX has always been there...this was just another year, and next year will be even better.

Canada has some great plans for BMX "Freestyle" and flatland is an important part of that family. Things are looking good!

Just for the record, we tried and had huge sponsors lined up for the event. There are a lot of politics involved when running an event in someone elses venue.

But everything is a go for next year at this location and we have discussed the sponsor issues once again with them.

PS..we are not putting down plywood.

I can carry 8 donuts and two coffees....

okay, you didnt get that..

switch footed ones tend to keep the forks right up against your legs and allow you to spin tighter...if you scuff them regular foot, you just have to keep working on it until you feel the balance point and can lean your bike over comfortably without it falling over..you can also place your foot differently..either the heel or your toes on the tire which can change the angles...

No, I believe you were bummed that the pro class was short because it "was badly put together in my opinion". There is a difference. I wish the Pro riders would have an hour run each, but I don't think they could do it :) They did however ride all day saturday and Terry and Art kept riding long past when everyone was gone....Many of them also commented that there was less stress than other contests and that they will be back next year because there was such a great Vibe.

Most of the young guys don't even realize that Flatland has always been at the bike show LONG before Metro even existed. The CFO running the contests now is just another step in the evolution of change.

There were a lot of last minute changes that delayed our launch and promotion of this event. This prevented a lot of Pros to confirm attendance. We have an even bigger event planned shortly, and several more throughout the summer.

As I mentioned in the other thread, why don't you send suggestions to the promoters/organizers instead of just saying what you don't like. Say what you don't like and how and what you would suggest to make it better.

Keep flatland positive!

It was super sick..and Terry started off one link with the Katrina...nuts!!

metro? posted on 2006-03-06 07:39:24

Hate to break it to you. There was not flatland at Metro. There was however flatland at the Toronto International Bike Show.

There were also no "flyers" out there so I don't know what EP is talking about. If you read 3-6 then that was someone else who made that up.

Also, if you have ever been to a contest before, you would know that timeframes written on paper and what goes down are two different things.

What we said was Pro was between 11 am and 6 pm which was pretty much the entire day. The pros decided to mix qualifiers and finals into two runs only and not broken down so that is what went down. The pros liked the way this was handled.

Sorry that your bubble broke to find out the pro riders are human and might have a say in "their" schedule.

EDIT>> I forgot to mention, if anyone has any suggestions, please send them to us jamie@cfobmx.ca and we will see what we can do!

PS, let's keep the partying part of this weekend out of this thread. This is suppose to be about the contest and riding, not what happened at a hotel (didn't mean you Jesse, I am glad you got some sleep!))

Thanks

Thanks again to the riders who came out to support our first "Flatland's Unlimited" event of the year. We have more plans for 2006 and you might even see us sooner than you think with some big events!

Special hugs and kisses to Syndicate Clothing, To Wheels bike shop in London Ontario, Neon-Media, Vibe Video mag, Tony Stickler / Mountaintop Fab for the awesome prizes.

I hope the judging format worked out well for everyone because it is something we are going to stick with for the "FU" series.

You gotta love trophies..I hope they were no hassle for anyone on the planes and trains! :)

Still room, but there are at least 25 ams and about 10 pros so far. There will be plenty more that are signing up at the door so make sure you come early on Friday.
