Re: New handlebars posted on 2006-12-21 12:50:45

By the way, what are the best flat dvd's at the moment?

New handlebars posted on 2006-12-21 12:38:56

So after a year of using some cheap crap streetbars, I think it's time to switch to some new real flat ones.

These bars are the options I have: https://www.soulcycle.com/shopping/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=20&cat=Handle%20Bars&catalogid=7200
(Not the ones above 55 euros please eh :p)

About my requirements, I have no clue to be honest:
-When should I get long ones, when short ones?
-When should I get backsweep, when zero-offset?

Thanks.

Didn't it take tons of time to film that? :-o
Little disturbing indeed. :P

My little riding experience learned me: never compare your progress with the progress of others, never! Because when someone who's riding as long as you do, can do more and cooler tricks than you can, it makes you... frustrated... when you get frustrated you want to stop riding, and that's not what you want. Maybe that other guy put twice as much time in that specific trick than you did, or maybe... tons of reasons. :)

Everyone can learn every trick, talent is not a matter of being able to do a trick or not, talent is just how fast you learn new tricks, combined with creativity and dedication, tons and tons of practise, you will become truly a pro.

Oh just as a side note, don't have as a goal to become pro or sponsored, that also makes you frustrated. :P

That's what my little riding experience learned me.

Oui, I'm certainly interested. :)
The "Create" trailer is nice music and editing, but it doens't show enough riding imho, what do you guys think?

Videofragment needed posted on 2006-10-08 11:25:55

I need a videofragment of like 2 minutes, that can introduce non-flatlanders to flatland, so it should look impressive and hard to people that never touched a bike.

It's for a small presentation about flatland, thanks in advance! :)

Re: What brand of parts dominates on your bike? posted on 2006-10-02 01:40:26

Nothing really dominates:

Odyssey: tire, brake
Dragonfly: brake lever
Generix: pegs
KGB: frame
Primo: seat post
KHE: seat

They're just overused, give your wrists a break for a week or so. :)

Re: i hope flatland always stays obscure and unknown... posted on 2006-09-02 16:37:29

The problem is however, that if you got a trick dialed, it looks so smooth sometimes it might look easy to some people; lots of people I know usually say when they see me riding: "That can't be that hard, lemme try!" and when they do they fail miserably of course and say: "Wow, impressive man!". The people that really respect flatland are the ones that rode a BMX more than twice. :)

Sometimes tricks look so complicated and hard that people's minds will be confused and think: "That can't be that hard! :?".

:)

Managed to barhop from a fork glide to riding backwards. :P
Funky chickens progress slowly, but they progress; halflash to steamroller I'm beginning to get down; dork wheelies are going smooth, and I pulled a few one-handed dork wheelies. :)

You can do hitchhiker kickflips on first try.
You have some talent if that's true.  :-o

Re: whats was your first flat trick learned posted on 2006-09-01 03:23:14

180°/360° barspins -> endo -> pogo's -> trackstands (love that trick :p) + variations -> framestands -> ...

That were my first 5 tricks I think. :)

Re: footjam endo posted on 2006-08-24 13:02:32

Don't know why I'm helping you but anyway, here it is...

Begin at fast speed (seriously, the faster the better, something lots of people do wrong because it scares them off), and when you put your foot into your forks throw immediately ALL your weight forward over your bars and keep leaning forward. That should help you out. ;)

Try it no-handed. :)

Re: Todays Riding posted on 2006-08-19 17:11:04

Practised FW Steamrollers and Funky Chickens today, I'm wondering about a few things tho:

-Funky Chickens (right hand on seat): 'Scuffing' very fast etc. is not the way to go I suppose?
Progress: Mostly I only get 4 scuffs, I don't really feel like progressing a lot on these, but I guess that's normal? :)

-Steamrollers: pull up bars with left hand & lean forward enough are the key to this trick, right? Any other hints perhaps?
Progress: can roll them a bit and halflashing into them worked once. :)

Another little question: barspinning while doing a BW Steamroller, how hard is it? :)

Petros how u finding them?
[/quote]

Hmm, I'm now first perfecting my fork wheelies/BW steams and learning BW half hikers, and after all that I will (finally) start learning BW hitch hikers. I'm not yet focusing on the trick however. :)

The trick is harder than I thought it was tbh. :)

How's your BW hitch hiker progress going?

Backwards Hitch Hiker posted on 2006-07-01 09:27:27

Can't find a lot of information about this trick; so just wondering, how long did it take you guys to learn to do them, what's their difficulty, any tips for them, ... ? :)

Thanks,

Petros

Nonetheless, Hamilton rules. :)
