FORCE YOURSELF to drop out and ride out like you would a half hiker. It's really fucking scary the first few times, but you have to commit to it. Once you get the hang of that, everything else is so easy.

I took around 9 months off my senior year of high school. It was tough to get back into the swing of things, but I managed. I've also taken like.. 2 or 3 months off here and there... I say altogether in my 7 years of riding I've only been "riding" around 5 or so.

It's a Jumelin combo, but I think him and I learned it around the same time. I was getting into the hiker all the way back to last summer. It was just something I halfway learned and never committed to getting it. Then one day like 5 or so months ago, I decided to just get it over with. It's easy to get into the hiker, but hard as shit to pull out because the spin is so tight. Props to Jumelin for getting it so wired (and coming out on the other side! hard as fuck!)

No, I think he's saying that when the worlds most creative mind in flatland.. who happens to be one of the best in the world.. is running regular forks and brakes, that people should take something from that.
And zero offset IS a trend.

I just hate the whole thing. I've been posting on global flat since the forums went down. I say just bring the old pedal back up and scrap all this junk. It's just not worth it. No offense to all your hard work Nick, and I know the reasons you changed things.. I just don't think they needed changing.
I haven't been in here in awhile, but I have to say it's cool to see this thread on Pete. I can honestly say that in most any circle of riders this same kind of props get's lifted about him - he is definitely a "rider's rider". His much anticipated solo DVD is coming very soon. "Persevere" is going to cover 2 decades of his riding to present and will feature his new backyard riding deck,(just featured in Cream magazine) crazy new riding sections, Pete's insane antics and a closer look at one of the best riders of all time. A lot of people don't even know that Pete is an amazing mix artist/DJ as well. He has constructed all of the tracks used in "Persevere" and we will be releasing the tracks on an audio CD along with the DVD in a double case for all you're riding MP3's.
Most importantly, just so you all know - all proceeds from the DVD sales go to Pete Brandt to support his riding and family, so you will each be helping support his riding directly by buying "Persevere".

I can't wait to see what he has been doing outside of his contest links (which are pretty insane on their own).

Errr
Vegas was the beginning of realtime transitions for video
Its GUI changed EVERYTHING we expect in the audio editing world
Simple small things that seem irrelevant but taken together have changed workflow speeds exponentially
Something as simple as Vegas' mousewheel time zoom, autocrossfades, ONE TOOL operation. Mono, stereo an/or on the same track, event editing, fade shape definition, flexible file formats, drag and drop media from anywhere, HD support back in 1998
Sorry dude, it changed a LOT
In both audio and video there was a lot of resistance from non technical luddites to these PC inspired ways of working, and in audio theres still a MAc-PT vs everything else silliness coming from luddite schools, but that doesnt change anything for those willing to embrace the technology

Maybe it's just because I never really tinkered with a copy of it. Think you could hook a brotha up? I'm always looking for new video programs to tool with since Avid is bunk on my PC.

Between my Sinus and my Quamen I threw my bars on my forks for a few hours and learned no handed turbined "backpackers". Not as hard as you'd think.
Another thing you can try are those mccircle pivot to inward whiplashes hiro morisake does. You kind of need your brakes on for that though when you have such little counterweight.

I like to wear semi-loose pants, with the waist pulled halfway up my ribcage and the legs halfway up my calf, over a short-sleeved K-Mart dress shirt tucked in tight, with my socks pulled all the way up my calves and sandals.
Goes very well with my horn-rim glasses, Gilligan hat, and huge fuckin' cigar.

There is a joke here that I'm not getting.
I just think it's completely absurd that Bush said just a week or two ago that a win for the democrats would be a win for the terrorists.
Doesn't this sort of mean he's inviting terrorists to dine at the white house?

They arn't for gay men, they're for men with too much money to blow on ugly jeans. Expensive jeans does not = gay.
no, that wasnt a joke. they are actually meant for homosexual men
Tell that to all the wannabie hipsters in Richmond who are definitely not gay, yet rocking diesels. Or in fact, tell that to pretty much most of their consumer base who which btw... arn't gay.
