meaning how are YOU hleping this sport[/quote]

What's With Girl Pants????? posted on 2006-03-14 10:11:32

okay, so, for a sport that values and encourages individuality you are saying...?

i wasn't bashing, just simply point out that fashion has and will continuosly evolve, just like the sport

you can't just bash on what people wear.
where they good riders?
where they giving it their all?
having fun doing it?

then i see no problem with what people wear
i think there was even a video from Opera in Paris where pokeman was wearing yellow shoes with blue fuzzy pants or some sort of combination as such

good on people who wear what they want.
don't question them, question what it is with the opening argument that you are bringing to and offering embetterment upon the sport you support

hey there

i think for the most part, in order to answer your question, FASHION is changing!

street fashion (and i don't mean street BMX) has changed for the tighter look. smaller tshirts, less baggy jean legs.

i don't think that the level at which one wears their jeans has changed. bag in the 'new school' days. everyone was wearing 4 - 6 inches bigger than their intended waiste size. so if i wore a 32-33, i was actually buying a 36-38. todays street style has changed, you now wear your proper size, and with a short zipper(lowrise) area, but at the end of the day, the height at which one wears their jeans actually hasn't changed, they still usually sit just below your pelvic bone.

shirt sizes have changed as well, instead of wearing the big baggy 2 sizes to big, you now wear either your size, or one smaller.

most 'kids' (<- read 18-35 years old) have proper jobs and don't live at home. so they tend to shop at stores that can accomodate a style where by they can wear the clothing to work, still look professional but be comfortable riding in these clothes as well

most 'kids' also have more dispossable income these days, and therefore is reflected in their shopping choices from the lower end Old Navy, Gap to mid range H&M, ZARA, Club Monaco to higher end jean companies such as Easter Sewn, Seven, Paper to the obsurd Evasu price range (Evasus will run between 300 and 500 dollars)

i sometimes ride in a pair of Sevens (these usually run about $150-220) and let me tell you, they are firggen comfortable, they fit well, they work well, and keep their form!

so therre ya go, its not a WTF is everyone doing, its just the current fashion! If not anything, sports such as BMX and Skateboarding are usually slightly ahead of the fashion curve, so you will see big plastic sungalsses, tighter jeans, more styled rock hair and more colorful clothing this summer

have a great day

seems like what the skaters are doing is egging you on
and a damn good job they have done

you need to practice more of that stuff you preach, you know, calmness, tranquility, blah blah blah

i get skaters at my fav spot as well, they will sakte around you, near you just to get a reaction, i usually pull off to the side, take off my headphones and have a smoke, or two. they will keep riding and so on

just don't give the skater a chance to egg you on
maybe applaud for the tricks they land
stop being a jerk
