exactly how do you use one of these? I see how it screws into the end of the spindle, but are you just supposed to smack it with a hammer to knock the spindle through the bb and knock the crank arms off, or is there more to it than that? I can understand how to use some pretty technical tools, but I think this one just looks too simple, and I'm probably over thinking it....

I can get them through work for $2.75 a peice, so I'm just gonna order boths sizes, which beats paying $12 through danscomp, thanks for the help though

well I bought them used, so i'm sure they came with it, and they just didn't make it to me. I found them no dans comp, so my last question, is how do I know what size I need, as far as 51mm(gold) or 53mm(silver)? is one standard or should I just go pull out my spindle and measure?

oooh, Other cranks i've worked on have had that spacer inside the bb shell between the bearings, these ones didn't come with one, maybe that's why the bearings feel like they're too tight when I tighten the cranks as much as I think they should be? I know if you over tighten sealed hubs they definately don't wanna spin right, so it should be the same for a bottom bracket. but yeah, that picture is exactly what I have, minus the spacer between the bearings, is there anywhere you can buy just one of those?
WTB:modulever double cable adapter posted on 2006-08-02 18:33:30
I have a modulever, but I think when I moved the last time I lost the little peices that go inside the barrel adjuster of the lever that lets you pick between a single cable, or the double cables. I'd really like to find one of the peices for double cables, but if anyone has the single cable peice atleast i'd be able to use the lever again, so let me know what you have, thanks!

I just got some profile 3pc cranks last night off someone, but I usually ride road bikes and what not, so I'm not as used to messing with them. Road cranks wedge on pretty tight, and you need a crank puller to get them off, so i'm not sure when I tighten these cranks, how exactly they should feel. obviously they can't go on too tight or they wouldn't be able to come off, but the spindle isn't as tapered as a road crank either, so I just wanted to see how tight they're supposed to be. I was worried that i'd ride a mile or two and my crank arms would start to come loose, if i tighten them how tight i think they should be the bb is too tight and the cranks don't wanna spin, so I just wanted someone elses opinion.
WTB: flatland pegs for gt pacman dropouts posted on 2006-07-28 22:00:56
pretty much like the title says, i'm looking for some flatland pegs that will fit in the gt pacman shaped dropouts. not concerned as far as whether they're new or very well used.
I don't need the ones that GT made specifically for these dropouts, if you've got any other pegs that you've used in them before and you know they'll fit, i'd be just as interested in those, and if you don't have any, but know of some that'd fit, let me know
i've checked flatland fuel and dans comp, but I don't do much bicycle stuff online, so i'm not really sure where else to go from here.
thanks
josh

anyone know anything about those pegs that fit into the pac-man dropouts on gt frames? I don't do much flatland stuff online, I checked flatland fuel and dans comp, but i'm not really sure where to go from here.
if anyone has used ones they're willing to part with, that'd be cool too, but I know that's more of an issue for the classifieds section, so i'm not gonna push it in here.

alright, they've been sitting aruond for a little while, so the price tag is pretty faded, i thought it said 189, but it must've been 139, so how about $100 shipped?
primo powerbite cranks posted on 2006-04-04 14:53:12
and just to be noted, that price is very negotiable, I was just throwing it out there,
primo powerbite cranks posted on 2006-04-03 21:35:58
I don't know, the box said $190, so let's start at $150 shipped and work from there

anyone interested in some primo powerbite cranks? brand new, in the box, 180mm, black, never been on a bike.
I was gonna put them on ebay, but my girlfriend went out of town for the week for work, and took her camera, so if i do it'll have to wait until next weekend, figured i'd see if anyone was interested

I wouldn't normally come in here just to advertise my ebay stuff, but I sold this bike on ebay, and the guy who bought it backed out with some lame excuse, so i relisted it, and figured i'd post the address here since I'm probably not gonna get as much this time around since it's a relist.....

that is a great link, the only thing I was conscerned about is that there would be enough space left inside that when you back pedal, the driver would unscrew itself from the clutch cone, but it doesn't look like that's really a problem, it would just give it a bunch of slack. thanks!
coaster brake to freecoaster? posted on 2006-02-12 10:41:23
I know how coaster brakes work, but i haven't pulled apart a freecoaster in a long time to remember what it looks like. I'm curious if there's anything you can do to a coaster brake hub to take the brake out? i'm picturing something like replacing the clutch plates with springs? i don't know, just curious what you guys think

he cut the rings for the pegs in half, "to save weight of course", of everything he's done I think that was the most pointless. I'd really like to see how nice a seat post looks after you grind it down into the seat tube and back out with all those holes, unless he found a way to file every single one of those holes out from the inside,
i second the comment that some people should not be allowed to own power tools.
I was sad to see the only thing he drilled on the wheels was the axles, I was hoping to see a few holes drilled through the spokes, tires, innertube, some holes in the bearings, and if he's that dedicated he probably won't use grease in the bearings, just water, because it'll weigh less when it evaporates
