I sounded harsh. But what i said is true. Going over the things that could go wrong in your head will scare you out of trying... Just fuckin commit to shit and quit building up all the bad scenarios in your mind.

IF you dont know a reason to replace a part then dont do it. Save your money for when you have a reason to replace something...like it breaks or you dont like how it feels.
Ignorance!

I know race frames are inherintly weaker, I'm saying they see harder hits then other bmx styles. Why the hell do you think that S and M can have a 1000year waranty, and race frames only see 6 monthes waranties if any at all. I'm saying when you take a fall in racing you put the bike through a hell of alot more than it would see in other genre of our sport.
So i think im starting to understand. Race frames are weaker, take harder hits, get more stress put on them, and they still last longer than park/street frames. Amazing.

New 2 BMX posted on 2006-02-06 19:19:06
The reason why they take more stress is because of the kind of riding, they are taken much faster, and take much harder hits then other styles of bmx can produce. I've seen bad cases of jumps turn into the entire front end broken off at the steer tube welds, clean breaks at the rear bottom bracket welds for the drop outs, bent/dented frames after colliding with another bike. A big reason for this is the fram its self serves as the main strength beam of the bike, concidering with titanium/carbon fiber crowned forks, lightweight ti wheels and such, that stuff just transfers all the punishment into the frame.

Trust me dude, go to a national race at a local track near your house, when the higher class guys are racing, you will see some shit that ou wouldn't belive. When your doing 35mph around a track, any little screw up or mis-calculation is going to turn into a big problem.
Im just laughin at you. Everyone knows race frames are weaker. Well apparantly you don't.... Race frames can break from a few bad cases. Thats not usually gonna happen to a park frame

excatly ^^^^^^^^

any way race fit how the fuk do u break a frame from racing? u must have been doin stupid shit on it, besides uve got a race frame, sum of my friends have got race frames and i hate them, no offence to use that have them, but man ive got a street frame and ive had no problems what so ever, go for a street frame coz they are made for riding street, if u get a race frame chances are that that it wont last as long as a street frame coz its designed for racing
Race frames go through more punishment then on higher levels of racing then most street, dirt, or park riders ever put on their frames. No I wasn't doing stupid shit on it, just the same things I was doing on my old frame. A race frame should last for 2 years for aluminum ones and about 1 year for carbon fiber/aluminum hybrid frames (aka GT Speed Series). Thats just a common life span for race frames before they begin to weaken. Just because I broke the frame, rolling into a gate no less, doesn't mean much, the fact that it wrode like shit, flexed, and overall had a crappy geometry doesn't change. Also my 2 friends that had the Box series frames wrode in a class down from me, but were very good riders, just starting to push themselves into the next level of riding, so they were beggining to put those extra high level stresses on their frames as well, and then theirs broke within a month of each other after owning them for maybe 4 monthes at the most. I was racing in Superclass (17 expert) when the frame blew up, so I put stress on the frame, but it should have held up because I never fell with it, or cased and jumps yet. I also weighed 180lbs so there was no reason for it to be over worked like that. And no I don't ride my race frames on street or regulary for that matter. I have before though, and I still have the bike, Hyper Boxster frame, I wrode for 5 years on street, and never any problems, so what does that say about GT, that they are crap.
Man wtf. Race frames dont get more stress put on them then park or street frames... Thats why they can make them weight 1/2 to 2/3 the weight of a street frame and they still last 2 years.

New 2 BMX posted on 2006-02-02 18:13:16

The first bike i had was a gt. The fork and bars bent. Crank arms twisted and then the dropout snapped off the frame. All in 2-4 months. So i wouldnt recommend any gt.

i dunno if this helps...but for me it helps alot to pick up the front wheel and start carving off the back one and start turning your shoulders...you will be spinning pretty fast already when you leave the lip.
