I am back for a visit... posted on 2008-06-04 00:35:25

It has been a while since I posted here.  Is it just me or does all the text just float around and jam up.  Do I need to install some java upgrade to see this site?

One thing to Remember, the York Jam is 6-23-07 and the Midwest Flat Jam is 7-14-07 (correct me if I am wrong.)

If you can't make to Chicago, try and make it to one of these.

Chicago Flatland Jam (July? August?) posted on 2007-03-19 20:14:46

Hey everyone,

Last year Chicago had a very successful flatland jam sponsored by Revenge Industries, Evrid, Tip Plus, System Distribution, Nocturnal BMX Shop, Primo, Backout Distribution among others on 08/19/06.  Another Jam is in the planning stages.

We need to know what dates would be good for you as riders.  So far we are looking at July 28 Sat  or August 4 Sat.  This should give everyone time to make plans to come to Chicago and ride some flatland. We are open to suggestions.

Also if you were at the Jam post up and let the guys who sponsored it know you had fun.

**It also seems that the last 3 years that Jose (2def.com) did the jams he worked in and Old School bike show along with it.  Aprt from being really cool, this is sort of an unoffical Chicago Flatland Jam tradition.  If you have 'em bring 'em.

There are a few things to consider first.  Will you ride flatland or street?  What is your budget?  If you have never ridden or own a BMX bike you may want to go low on the price point until you know you are into the sport.  With this in mind here are a few suggestions.

Street:  DK Cinncinatti ($240USD) and the Fit AM.  Look for a bike with room between the seat and handlebars 20.5" or more, Cro-mo frame, long wheel base 36" or more

Flatland:  Ares B4G or DK Signal.  You also might want to see what people are selling used here on the boards because you can get a good deal on flatland stuff that isn't beaten like street stuff.  Look for a bike that is short overall 33-34" wheelbase (to make back wheel tricks more managable), 18.75 to 19.1 top tube (this will put the seat closer toward you in steamrollers so you are not awkwardly reaching for the seat in front wheel tricks), Chrome rimsa if you use brakes.
