I guess someone hasn't seen Joe kid on a Stingray...  :)

Here's his email:

"Andrew Jenkins" <andyjenk@girlskateboards.com>

My friend is looking to hook up a BMX kid for a Snickers photo shoot in Shanghi.

It's scheduled to shoot VERY soon and they are desperate to get someone.

Here're a few details;

Must be able to flatland.

Of Asian descent.
They pay all expenses for trip.

Please let me know if you have someone in mind and I can put them in contact with these folks.

Please feel free to pass this email on to anyone who may be able to
help.

Thanks.

"there is just something about editing with 2 vcr's that just takes me back..."

Yeah, it takes me back too...  Back to a very dark, painful time of taking 20 tries to match up each audio & video element, wishing I had a third hand to release another pause button...

FYI: Wheelies was done with 2 hi8mm vcrs...

RealiTV 2 is sitting right here on my video shelf as well...

It sounds like making videos is all about making money. It's not.
You have to be true to the videos first and THEN you might make some $.
I've been talking with the producer of the DEW AST on NBC and it looks like I might be producing some segments for this year's series. My hope is that I can inject some flatland into it.
Let's not forget about FUEL TV too. We just got a TV deal for Joe Kid on there, so there's a possibiliy that we could see a Flatland series on there also.

I'll keep pushing.

Cool, some controversy!
The saying goes: You can't please everyone...

Keep in mind that Joe Kid is not MY film. I was a 50% partner in it with John Swarr (my partner at Bang!), and when Jesse James came onboard I was then a 38% partner which meant the things that I REALLY wanted to do with the story were not soley my call, but scrutinized by a committee. We had an edited 3hr film that we needed to trim to 90min. and a few of the freestyle segments got cut out or seriously trimmed down. Frankly some of the freestyle segments weren't that interesting to the general public and this film was meant to play to EVERYONE. not just the BMX community. Having to cover so much history in 90min meant that we really had to compress everything.

All I know is that Joe Kid was the hardest film I've ever worked on and most rewarding personally, because I got to be a part of a film that highlights the majority of my life -the riders that I idolized since the 70's, the sport that i helped contribute things to, and to document the path that BMX has taken.

Hopefully my next film will satisfy the flatland community...:)

I tried to convince Kevin Jones from getting back into riding, buying a lavender Hutch Trick star and trying to learn tricks with those "ridiculous pegs" in May of 1985. now THERE'S something to think about...

The AFA.... posted on 2006-02-22 17:12:00

For any of you who are willing to step up and make this happen, here's some ideas:

If I've learned anything in my lifetime it's
"If you want something done, do it first and do it yourself".

The NBL wasn't even interested in supporting Joe Kid on a Stingray, let alone Flatland.

Start here.

This forum is probably the single biggest flatland hub in existence.
Take a poll: Who is willing to support a competition organization?

If EVERYONE interested paid a yearly fee for a membership, etc. That would help cover the start-up costs. all you have to do then is set the dates and promote them via the internet.

Guarantee a specific purse for each event so that the riders KNOW what they're going to be competing for.

Get some support from flat-specific companies for extra prizes that go beyond the purse.

Commit.

The only way this will succeed is if you are fully committed to make it succeed no matter what. Get it out of your head that you will make any $$$ from this because most likely there won't be much money in it. Do it because something deep down inside you says "I need to be the one that does this".

That's all the motivation I can give for now.

Go for it.

Actually, it's the whole Dorkin DVD Box Set that is now retailing for $34.99.

Flatland Fuel's prices are INSANE!!!

For those interested, there's another little long-awaited gem that I've been working on which will be dropping very soon in the form of a CD...

I keep you poseted.

Thanks for the support.

And then there's all the footage that was never used which may be applied to a new up coming project...

I know that my green one was part of the first batch that was sent to Kevin. I got mine in September of 1993 and I've been riding it ever since.
