Macneil Deuce Deuce - i'm 6'1", this is the best bike ever posted on 2006-11-08 18:20:34

I just got a Macneil Deuce Deuce. I'm 6'1", this is the best bike I've ever had (and I've had a ton of different bikes). If you are tall and get the old low back pain from hunching on bikes that are too small, this is the way to go. Throw some tall 2 piece on, like the Terrible One 00B Paul Buchannan Bars, and the whole thing feels proportionally bigger. Just like how short dudes set up their bike small, FINALLY there is a bike setup that actually fits tall guys.

High bottom bracket frames . . . suck posted on 2006-08-18 16:07:07

Hoffman seems to be the only company making something with a bottom bracket height of less than 11.5".
My old Hoffman TAJ had a low bb height (like 11.25 or something) and it felt great.

If your feet higher, then as far as having to "hunch over" it's the same as if you bars were that much lower. Most people that ride 7.5"s would not want to switch down to 6.75"s or something.

His name is spelled      K I E R A N.

It's a common Irish name.

My name also.

Cool guy, Kieran Chapman. Ewire rules.

looking for: -- Shadow Consp. 24" cruiser posted on 2006-07-31 15:02:12

I've got an S&M Widowmaker cruiser. I've ridden the DK Fury race cruiser (kicks ass for entry level) and a Haro Backtrail cruiser (heavy as shit, but good geometry).

Anyone got a Shadow Conspiracy cruiser?

want: fat fat Haro axle wheel OR step up washer posted on 2006-06-04 07:08:45

want fat fat Haro axle wheel OR step up washer....

SO, I have some forks from a Backtrail or Master or something, and as you may know, Haro had those really fat axles, the ones with the flat side. So the slot in the dropouts is actually bigger than 14mm oversized.

I am looking for washers to step up into that slot. OR a front wheel or just hub. Otherwise these forks are useless....

lemme know! thanks

wanted: 9"+ rise flatland bars (Trevor. ?!) posted on 2006-05-08 09:19:37

At the Portland CFB back around 2000, I saw Trevor Meyer's bike with some custom bars that were shaped like real tall Odyssey 88's (is that what they were called ?)

Tall bars or short bars... Hmmm..... posted on 2006-04-22 18:50:38

hey dude, if you're 5'10" just go for TALL bars. like 8" tall.

i have been riding flat off and on since '86, and if you look at the bars that almost ALL the tall medium to tall riders invented all the basic to advanced tricks on, they were all taller than 7.5" or so rise, or even 8.5" -- haro bars, peregrine q's, graveyard OG's, hoffman love handles, etc.

if you're short, then yes, get short bars. but i guarantee a tall guy will usually feel more natural on his bike with nothing lower than 7" bars. when you're standing on your front peg, it really does not help to have your grip below knee level.

there are some new FBM dinner box 4 piece that are 8" tall, and these look rad.
