I am now riding for Sick Child and SCG shoes and all the other sponsers I have always had. I have updated my web site with new photos and a new video I made. Happy holidays to you all and look forward to seeing more of me in 2007. McGraw

Re: In your opinion - Top 10 flat riders of all time? posted on 2006-09-30 15:16:30
why is this always a topic every few months? everyone likes a different style. and everyone listed has contributed to the sport. kevin and chase are deffinate easy answers, but from there its anyones game. people come and go and are progresive riders for that time. so you really need to look more at how much influence they have on the sport after ten years when their fade has worn off. kevins trick are the foundation to everything we do today. people like Rl and bob haro are the reason the sport came about. by todays standards they are far from the best but their contribution is priceless. there is far to much talent out there to call someone the best ever. but if you must kevin and chase along with eaton did the most. and in my opinion being original and truly coming up with as many new trick as those guys did is something the sport will maybe not see again. from here we build off of thier contribution. and before anyone miss reads this yes that means you still can be original to a degree. and why do I not see James Whites name him and Dolan contributed allot. peace

Re: what happened to judging ideas posted on 2006-07-06 12:47:03
ok well at least we got one good idea. Seriously!!!! this is not a thread to start shit its to put a end to the descrepency and bitching that occurs after an event. Yes there will always be someone who is not happpy but if you can show them how they where judged then they can learn from that for the next time. there will always be bitching and we can not make everyone happy but at least we could be organized. Also lets be real flatland is getting more coverage and the more we ligitamize ourselves the more likely we are to get major sponsers involved in contest which means more money, its really not that hard. This is not in any way saying anything about other countries either but my focus is on American events the other countries have good sponsers America is alot harder to get a hook up so we need to present a good package. lets not blow this off. what happened to judging ideas posted on 2006-07-05 11:26:03
So I know that it has been a while since the incident with me and scott and as I recall there was to be a private or closed forum for certain people to talk over a official judging formate which oddly enough I never got a invite to join :-o. anyways I have since forgot about the usless drama but still stand behind the need for some kinda formate that will be agreed upon by promoters. If we do not stay on this nothing will happen!!!!!!!!!! so once again lets get organized and with all do respect I do not believe that this formate has to come from a pro it just has to be good and easily understood. If we do not act for ourselves who will and will we feel good about the outcome????? I am going to work on this and I want everyones Ideas there are no bad ideas so please voice your thoughts. At 36 years old I am at the end of my road as a competitive rider so this is more for you guys than me. peace James :-)
Re: Judging system posted on 2006-05-25 17:54:01
My 2 cents, One we do not need the names of the judges to be given when things are posted. Thats not whats inportant. What we need is to be able to see a mark for each division of judging such as consistency, originality, difficulty ect. what this offers us is a chance to see where are personal weekness's are alowing us to inprove those areas of our riding. We may not like the results at first but if judging is consistant we will learn to appreciate it. Secondly when I have judged a contest I have found I never give the high scores reason I leave room for potentially the bomb run. So for those who fear a judge may give low scores we will have to look at that judges overall scores to evaluate if everyone was judged the same or just one rider. example if everyone falls between 84-87 and someone gets a 89 they better have drop a serious bomb run. The scores do not matter however as long as they are consistent. Once again QUI made a good point about the likes of paul osika and his influence on the judges. This is why judges can't talk some one like paul would be fine because at least he would be consitant as individual judge so he is fair by himself. His influence over the other judges as a whole would not be fair and this is why judges should be seperate. bottom line lets not over think this it does not have to be crazy complicated K-I-S-S (keep it simple stupid) words to live by. not to say we take a simple approach but to much could make this problum even worse. No mater who is judging if they veiw everyone the same then that is fair, this is the reason for 4 or more judges because that will help to eliminate a bias opinion. everyone thinks differently as far as what is cool and hard. what may be hard for one is easy for another so do think you can pick five guys who have the same view it simply can not happen the key is that as a judge they are consistant in thier views. I just want to make sure we are all on the same page. I do think it sucks I saw the judge sheets the way I did because it casted a negative picture on the whole thing. although I do not regret speaking out, I will say I have come to believe Scott when he talks about how the judging was handled. I may not agree with that kind of format but thats life. This is why it is so inportant that we do get a format that works because I want to be clear in saying Voo doo was and is a huge event to put on and it is very inpresive that Scott pulled it off. I do not want to have someone like Scott who is capable of such an event, bailing out on us because of this drama. I will say it, we need people like Scott who are dedicated enough to pull these kind of events off. What happened is unfortinate but its over, I really just want us to get our shit together so we can all enjoy events and each other with out all the drama. Things happen for a reason in life and maybe this is what will come of this drama, Its sucks it came to this and it sucks that it was such a prestien event but maybe because it was this event and I came off so agressive we may get something done. So Scott no longer needs to explain himself on this event as far as I am concerned and what was said between us is not really the inportant part, even though it made for a good drama. I have a side of the story that if your in my shoes makes sense and Scott has the same. SO FORGET ABOUT IT!!!! lets get a system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace James :-) :-) :-) :-)
Re: Apology to Flatland and JPM posted on 2006-05-25 04:24:10
To keep this simple and not start shit, I will say this, what I said happened, the only part in question is did scott have anything to do with it. or was it a the judges either way I Know that there was scores changed and I know I was replaced by a southrider. you can base your oppinion on that. Scott did acknowledge this in his post. Peace James
Re: Apology to Flatland and JPM posted on 2006-05-24 20:03:51
For the record I did not have it removed I was ok with leaving it up in order to make a point but there was alot of negativity and I guess some one or someones felt it was out of line for the younger kids on the forum and I have said my peace and I do feel both me and Scott are professionals and for a parent looking at this who wants their kid to get involved it sends a bad message. We got the point out their and now we can run with the trully inportant aspect of this proublum.
Re: Apology to Flatland and JPM posted on 2006-05-24 19:58:17
whats done is done but, now that we got some shit started we should pursue the solution. personaly I have to say T.J had the best post as far as I saw about the points and judges in four corners and they do not talk to each other. Add to that they have the right to change anything they want on thier own before they submit the results. But they should not talk as a group there by eliminating the potential for influence of another judge. also if you want to add more to this you can remove either the highest or lowest to also help with making bias opionions not so relivant. we Know there will always be people who like certian types of riding and that will never change so T.J Idea makes the most sense KEEP THE JUDGES APART :-D :-D anyways lets keep this going and make everyone who puts on a contest realize that it cost everyone of us alot of money to make it to the events and though the best part is seeing everyone it is nice to compete and it feels good to do well. We all want to be part of this sport and negativity like this past situation is not needed Scoot does do a good job with Voo Doo and it is a lot of work. Like life we live and we learn so maybe we can finnaly agree on something. A better judging system set in stone will help furture the sport because although there will always be some drama at least if there is a standered we can know what we need to do in order to make the judges happy. Also if the scores are posted we will be able to see how we where judged and see where we need to inprove. This does not need to be as hard as it has seemed we just need to actually do. If 50 people go to the next contest and say we want this kind of judging system we will get it. Peace James :-D :-D

I would also like to apologize for some of my remarks. I felt I was dissed and I took it to heart especially from the person or persons who have some of the most influence in the sport at this time. If I was wrong about the judging I am sorry, based on what I saw I felt I was valid. I just felt this happens alot and not just to me. I felt it was time for some one to step up and take the hit. I just needed to take a stand to make a point. As I said in my first post the contest was awsome and I have a lot of respect for someone who takes the time to do something like that for the sport. We need to take this drama as a lesson that we do need to impliment a better judging system. We all have our own style and skills and I feel that every rider deserves respect cause it takes a lot of work and dedication to learn a trick. with this said have a good one and peace :-) :-) James

Flat Jam Contest Results are Posted in Events posted on 2006-04-24 11:03:35
Well my opinion is the contest was really good. We have to thank Chris for putting it together. I think the floor was ok, I know myself and terry rode the night before till 2 am and had no troubles. Alex and Raphel did not get in till couple hours before they rode, all that travel and no time to really get warmed up played a part im sure. Terry I think was probably tired from riding so much as was I and Justin is human after all :D he simply had an off day. He is still the king in my book and I have a feeling this will not happen again any time soon. I think judging is hard but I have to say it was nice to see people place based on what they did and not on who they are. This is not a diss to anyone, I'm a pro and Terry, Justin and alex are superstars to me too. But Matt rocked and Jeff D What ever!!!! what can you say about him if he hits his stuff he deserves to place period. Now Cory is a pimp he is on his way to becoming the new king. This is my view peace McGraw :D :D :D

Tricks You Invented? posted on 2006-03-16 11:02:01
well there are lot that have room for argument.
I did double footed hang 10 no hands up against the handle bars in my 1987 ohio afa masters run that was a first at the time. Secondly me and bill newman both did pedaling pedal pickers that same year. the other questionable one is both me and bill newman where doing backwards bar rides in 1987, I personally did one in my run at the Afa masters velodrom contest in domigez hills cali. No one else was doing them at that point. however Woody itson was two months later noted for that trick in the american freestyler magazine. The timeing is close but I know I did it first in the afa. And for a good laugh lets not forget all things scooter where mine. Anyone from this time knows what I am talking about.
