HAHAHAHAHAHA TJ!
If you want to support rider owned companies, why not start by buying shoes from shoe companies dedicated soley to bmx? Companies such as SCG, Lotek, Orchid...(SCG being the first bmx only shoe company starting back in 1999).
Most of you will talk the talk, saying support rider owned....rider owned this...rider owned that. Yet as soon as you need a new pair of shoes, lets just flock back to the skateboard shops, or dans comp to order a new pair of osiris, adio, globes, dc, dvs, ipath, fallen, es, etc...
in the past 25 yrs or so, i'm sure almost every major shoe company has supported the bmx sport in one way or another, whether it was in a contest or rider sponsorship or whatever, correct me if i'm wrong, but i think converse was sponsoring somebody a few years back, and i believe matt willhelm had a vid on the nike website or adidas, i cant remember, point is, shoe companies sponsor bmx when they see it as profitable, thats why i buy shoes based on quality not the name

I don't understand something - where's the spindle on fly cranks? looks like there isn't one.
i was wondering that myself, the flys look nice. seeing that pic got me thinking, you probably could design some cranks with a large hollow spindle by including a tool that would compress both crank arms and then you could tighten down the pinch bolts on the crank arms. not sure how strong that would be, but it would make the bb a lot lighter

you are probably right as far as the mike s bars being discontinued, maybe there is an updated version in the works, i wouldnt be too worried about performance/quality. if you have ever seen mike s ride, he puts his bike through hell, and they hold up. i dont have any personal experience with any of the bar/stem combos, but i would choose the mike s over the khe and sequence
Re: Shin guards posted on 2006-10-10 13:38:05
i have tried different shin guards over the years, and by far the best ones are the knucklebones. i use them year-round in AZ with no problems. i wish knucklebone didnt put that dorkass label on the front, but i used a sharpie on it and it doesnt look so bad now. the ventilation on the kbs is so much better than any other shin guards i've tried. pretty much any shin guard on the market will serve the purpose, i would just advise you against wasting your money on the kinks (re-labeled poor boys), because they are really hot and they tear really easily.

i wish someone would put up standard's style cats, osicka's part in that one is simply amazing as well as degroot. surely standard doesnt care about a movie that is probably over 10 yrs old and not even available?

i guess at least those people who are looking for a flat frame with rear brakes have another option. i think you guys are right in saying that this will be one of the top selling frames in the next year. just when you thought hoffman bikes was out of the flat game....

not too bad, nice and simple design. maybe its the angle of the pic, but it looks like it has a pretty mellow hta. i'm curious about the specs....

i have only been able to ride it once, but so far i love it, the new hta makes mccircles and hang fives feel much more solid. and the difference in weight is very noticeable (as expected)

Bike lookds awesome. Those cranks make me want to vomit though.

i agree, they arent the most aesthetically pleasing cranks, but they are light as hell so they work for me
