It's amazing how people's attitudes have changed since the first Gulf war. Nobody seemed to give a shit about the people who were dying then. They only care now because it's the cool thing to do. Most of the anti-bush/anti-war people are a bunch of hypocrites who cheered our troops on in Gulf war I. We lost that first one...we never got into Baghdad. Saddam was left in power. The only success was driving Iraqi troops out of Kuwait. We just went back this time and finished the job...

We've known this news for quite a while now. This is just the official closing of the investigation.
That's just a straight up lie. What ewe've known for quite a while is that there are no WMS in Iraq. There has been no word on the WMD investigation since the aluminum tubes where found. You just assumed the search was over because you either knew there never where any weapons, or because you equated the lack of media coverage with non-existance. By your logic the war in Afghanistan is over.
Forgot to add....I don't think the US government has any stronghold over the media.
In Vietnam, not only did the media show dead bodies of American soldiers, but sometimes they showed these soldiers being shot. Even in events as recent as the mid 90's (Rowanda) showed dead soldiers, so this isn't a new thing. Before the Iraq war even started, the Whitehouse made absolutley sure these pictures never made it to the US, believing it would harm the image of the war (as it should).
Also, there has been lots and lots of propaganda since the start of the war. You've seen it. Remember the "hero" Jessica Lynch, who was "rescued" from an Iraqi "stronghold"? Remember Bush' "mission accomplished" speech on the aircraft carrier in May of last year?
I quoted the wrong post by byke in that part. Meant to quote this:
"And now the main pretence in justifying the killing of thousands
of innocent women and children for operation "freedom" has been
proven wrong."
It's been proven there were no WMD's back in late September. My argument is really about how the close of the investigation by the US is not really big news as CNN makes it out to be.
As far as the media stronghold....how did the prisoner abuse photos make it to the media outlet? How did the video of the Marine shooting the Iraqi in the Mosque make it on US television??? Those images don't exactly make the war look pretty. If the government had such a tight grip, I think they'd do anything to keep them off the air.

Why's that? It's a question about video?

Also, I think you're a typical example of how Europeans try to dig up conspiracy theories regarding the US. I'm really sure the government is running the US portion of CNN online...... I think you're looking too deep into this...

I just don't think its a really huge deal. We've known this news for quite a while now. This is just the official closing of the investigation. I think the rest of the world is just making a bid deal out of it to further portray the "evil" america.
What sort of reverse psychology propaganda crap is that?
you reap what you sew.
^^I dunno what you're trying to imply...
What I'm saying is who cares?? It's not a huge story. We've known for months that there were no WMD's. It's official now, they've stopped looking....so what? Mudslides in CA killing 10 people is probably a bigger story here in the US.
If were anti bush or war does that make us anti american? posted on 2005-01-13 06:39:00
I'm anti Bush, war, and America.....because it's the cool, trendy thing to do.....(sarcasm)

Forgot to add....I don't think the US government has any stronghold over the media. The media often makes a mockery of the government. If there was any decent influence over the media, it wouldn't be so liberal...

Are you saying that the Iraqis are not a more free people now? I think in general things have gotten a whole lot better for them. It's too bad that people had to die, but that's what it takes to be free.

Well, if your camcorder is Hi-8, I believe you'll have to get a converter to take the RCA output from the camcorder and stream it into your computer through USB (something like this: http://www.usbgear.com/computer_cable_details.cfm?sku=USBG-VD201&cats=125&catid=125 ). If you have a digital-8 camcorder, they usually have IEEE1394 connections...in that case you'd need a IEEE1394 card for your computer. You'll also need some software to capture the video. I think you can capture video with windows movie maker (not 100% sure cause I've never used it.) I use Adobe Premiere, but it's expensive, and I'm using the copy I have from work.
Why is flatland not appreciated in the USA? posted on 2005-01-12 07:14:17
No one in the US has respect for alternative sports like flatland.
All the crossbred rednecks take there sisters to Nascar races to watch crashes and get drunk at monster truck shows.
One more aspect is probably that the US is the fattest country on Earth, TX being the fattest state. these people want action, explosions, big air and worst of all A FUCKIN BACKFLIP.
Lack of understanding or they just don't care.
I got kicked out of my spot again and the guard is a nice guy but was told to take my name down and call the cops next time. He didn't think it was nessacary as we looked at the giant empty lot. the older man with him was stoked on me, "you sure can ride that bike". It's just rediculous, I hate most Americans for their ignorance.
"pro wrestlers" get paid millions for dancing around and faking a rumble. So I get kicked out of every spot in my town for just popping some wheelies. FUCK BUSH, AND FUCK EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTS HIM.
Haha, what does Bush have to do with that story? He's from Texas, but that's the only connection I'm getting.
It sucks getting kicked out of spots...but I can sadly see where the people are coming from. When you're riding on someone's property (business parking lot...etc...) you become a liability to that person. The average asshole will sue the property owner if he injures himself due to his own ignorance. Then there are the other assholes that loiter around places lookin to break in and/or vandalize it. I hope most of the people who keep us out of our spots are doin it for those reasons rather than just to be dicks.

Some editing programs allow you to export video clips as .gif. Premiere allows you to export the movie as a GIF sequence. I believe macromedia flash mx also lets you export the flash animations as gifs.
