Re: Judging system posted on 2006-05-30 23:25:38

also, it seems like different comps judge different things... i mean like the organizer of the comp might wanna focus more on style or long combos or something so the judges are instructed to reward that higher than something else - that's fine as long as the contestants are informed too! i've heard about that one a couple of times... that the judges were instructed but the riders weren't informed and therefor couldn't try to accomodate their runs...

and what oui said about only judging what's right in front of you. that's a biggie! it should be like an exam - what you perform right here and now is what determines your placing...

Re: advice on a complete posted on 2006-05-14 06:04:51

under $300 you can damn sure get completes from:

2-hip, black eye, bully, dk, eastern, fit, hoffman, integral, poverty, stolen...

i'd say it doesn't really matter which one you get - a beginner isn't as hard to his bike as someone who has ridden a little longer... (he won't go big or try really tech stuff). most of the parts will probably hold up until he figures out if he wants to keep riding and what kinda parts he likes...

i mean there's no need in spending a lot of money on expensive parts etc if you're not gonna ride anyway or if you find out that you didn't like that type of bars or cranks or whatever anyway...

make your friend look at pics of the different bikes within his price range and let him pick the one he thinks looks the coolest... and then he can always change the parts that break or that he doesn't like.

just my two cents.

good luck.

Ok so what tricks do yall do with this?I want pics of all the great tricks this has to offer.

he he... yeah i was kinda thinking the same thing...

i guess it's just liking that the pedals are out of the way - that you don't have to deal with em...

and maybe just wanting to try something new... different...

i enjoyed the guy doing a 360 over the gap and finishing off with a tailwhip! that was nice...

i've been watching a lot of street vids lately so i guess i'm kinda numb to the whole thing at the mo... except for the dude wanting to grind bw - was he aiming to crank grind it? it looked like it... well, in one of the attempts anyway...

i need help with these. i can whip it around and get the bike right beside me but i can't land on it!!i tried to land on it once and i pumbled all over the bike.metal to skni and bones!!!it hurt!
you only tried landing it once??!!  :-o

hmm, sounds to me like you need to practice a little more... try actually going for it, instead of half-assing it - otherwise you will not be able to land it!

and surprise surprise! you WILL get hurt... there's really no way around it - unless you don't wanna learn any tricks! suck it up boy! it's an extreme sport!

^^ go out and practice it took me two days to learn how to do both of those tricks now i just need to get them a lil better.
don't lie!

maybe you've gotten a feel for the tricks but i doubt that you've learned em fully! in which i mean landing em consistently...

a lil better - does that mean actually holding the manual for longer than a split second? and going the full 180 instead of just 90?

i was digging the movie all the way thru the years, i liked how it went slowly or anyway kinda slow thru the years and thru what happened and such... and then as the timeline got closer and closer to our time it just went faster and faster - and i guess i just kinda sat there waiting for and expecting the big ending, the explosion .... and nothing! instead the movie was over, and i guess i just sat there feeling "wow, that movie sucked"... then when i thought about i concluded that it didn't suck but just that the final conclusion hadn't been very good... and not just concerning the freestyle aspect, also concerning the racing - just everything!

i did like all the info though - i did learn a much needed history lesson, i guess...
