NeilG--thanks for the advice, i'm starting to lean towards the Sinus now unless someone else has another opinion about the simple or ares.

i would LOVE to get a quamen but a little out of my price range:(  the frames i listed were $150 to $199.

Re: Crazy hip pain posted on 2006-11-05 08:51:56

i would definitely got get some x-rays of that area--there could be some really dangerous things that go on at the femur head.  if they don't find anything,  i'd recommend finding a chiropractor to knock that hip back in place--if it's out of place it could be pinching on the surrounding nerves.

having trouble picking a flat frame posted on 2006-11-05 08:50:01

i'm kiliing myself trying to decide on a new cheap frame to replace my ares choice-
1) Ares Ay-Ex  (the one on clearance @ff) same geo, same weight, cheap
2) Suelo simple --super light but the pink one i want is more pricey
3) Sinus --looks nice but longer tt
anyone ride any of these frames?  good/bad qualities?

there's a whopping TWO riders in kc.  Jerry will probably get ahold of you soon--he's always lurking around on this board (Bhaverchuck)

are you looking for street riders or flatland?

Re: KHE Alex J. Signature Frame posted on 2006-05-27 08:27:46

why is it that everytime a new frame comes out someone complains about:  frame tubes have too many bends(looks like a kgb), frame tubes are too straight(looks like a street frame), frame is too light(it will break)or frame is too heavy at 5 lbs.  damn flatlanders can never be happy.

it's about time that bmx died down. i hated watching the x-games on tv, they would show 5 min. of bmx then show an hour of commercials and rollerblading then show the rest of the 5 min. of bmx runs. no wonder they can't get anyone to sit around for hours to watch 10 min. of bmx.

St. Martin ecoflat crankset - thread problem posted on 2006-04-14 14:45:26

i don't own a pair of these cranks, but since no one has answered your post, i thought i might give it a try.
--the gap-can you adjust the crankarm gap with spacers? i know that most cranks come with a bunch of spacers to adjust the chainwheel alignment.
--crankbolt-i think those come with self-extracting bolts, they're supposed to pull your crankarm off when you loosen it.
--squeaking-i have aluminum cranks and they squeaked like crazy for months, but now they're ok. don't use solvents(wd-40, etc) just use the thicker greases.
try to contact st.martin, i've seen the owner on the boards sometimes and they seem really cool.

Back out of whack again posted on 2006-03-21 06:11:41

sounds like you have a case of sprain/strain on your back muscles. you said you felt a "pull" and it took a little while to feel it. as long as the pain isn't shooting down your legs i think you should be fine. it'll take a few weeks to recover though--just stay off it for a bit. remember, us old people need to stretch before a riding session!! (i'm a 32 year old flatlander AND chiropractor)

GT SHOW COMP. posted on 2006-03-19 07:30:54

didn't you rip off someone on the boards just recently? AND you insulted someone else about their GT show saying it was worth $30?

Inertia posted on 2006-03-14 14:21:10

i've been riding for over 16 years and i've seen alot of crappy parts and i understand it when you get super pissed off when something breaks after you've spent your hard earned money on it.

we just need to contact the company and try to fix the problem first before coming on the board and blemishing a company's image. (i've already been unfairly swayed from using kgb products and the quamen flautas just from the reading the boards)

these rider owned companies are not trying to get rich off these products, they're just doing it for the love of the sport.

airline friendly bike bag posted on 2006-03-14 12:52:31

I have a large Jansport bag that i've used several times to take my bike on a plane. it's heavy duty nylon/canvas with rollers-very sturdy and portable. i can fit my entire bike with removal of wheels, forks, handlebars. has large side pocket for tools, pegs. bought it for $100 but need to sell asap. very good condition, i can email pics. i never had to pay bike fee but haven't travelled since 9/11 so don't know the new regulations. (this bag is MUCH easier to use and smaller than the ones at danscomp, i've tried them all) decent offers before i put on ebay.

Inertia posted on 2006-03-14 11:24:58

i would hate to run a flatland company with all the little crybabies out there. they're always wanting the most technical & light product yet strong and perfect at a reasonable price. i've seen people take shots at Quamen, Bizhouse, KGB,KHE,inertia, Ares, etc--all flatland companies that really don't have the resources to test the products for years before releasing it. EVERY time a new product comes out on the pedalbmx, it's slammed by people who think they can do a better job.
