Re: How many have you have taken a break from riding, and got back into it again? posted on 2007-01-12 18:38:38

It's true about seeing the potential in spots...

Yesterday I was walking to my car from my co-op job, saw this barricade that had a perfect transition for someone to come up manual on to it and ride the curve.

I see spots allthe time where I can picture myself doing some of my old links/combos. Everyday I get a bit more of an urge to ride...

I've ridden here or there the past couple years, but really haven't progressed. I'm looking forward to the spring...

I miss the days when we had at least 10 guys in a lot almost everyday, that kept the motivation up big time...

I was pretty serious into flat for about 5 solid years, but the past 1-2 years I have just been really taking it easy, found other hobbies, going to school, etc...

I'm starting to get the itch back, how many riders have taken a prolonged break and got back into it?

I spent three years to finally get the right idea that I wanted to keep. I got it started 3 weeks ago and it gets finished next week. It's very addicting in my eyes.

Re: anyone here some kind of engineer? posted on 2006-09-08 13:43:10

Hey,

I'm in my last year of studies for Mechanical Engineering Technology. Yes we do use calculus, differential equations, and algebra to solve problmes. But the whole problem solving process is very interesting.

I myself was always building lego and taking thigns apart when I was little. My fondness for math and science combined with a technical aspect natural lead me to taking this course.

You get to use your knowledge to design and problem solve. It's a very interesting job if you get into the right place. I highly recommend it.

I've held a few co-op positions since I began my schooling. Once as a mechanical manufacturing engineering student. I got to desgin some small jigs and fixtures for a high tech company. It was alot of fun. There was of course the more redundant work of drawing updates in ACAD, but that comes with being a co-op student...

I just finished a term as an Inspection Student at a refinery. It was a completely different experience and also very intriguing. Got to see how the process works for creating lubricants and got to learn lots about inspection.

It's such a vast field, lots of options in engineering.

Just my $0.02

I remember we went to philthies once after a jam when I was under age and I got the boot. You may want to inquire into that venue first Chris.
This just happens to be the same weekend that im having a WOF Jam in Detroit. A couple of flatland ladies are hoping to come down for my jam.. If your jam is going on in Windsor we will hop on over there for a while to ride flat. So WOF votes for Windsor.

PS.. that would also mean I get to go to Canada and get a french fry supreme from Taco Bell!!!
I was watching a segemnt of the guy who creates these bikes. If you don't do any back wheel and don't like to push yourself around you could maybe adopt this idea... although extremely unlikely. Just thought I'd show you guys.

I have been on and off of slumps the past couple of years since starting college. My progression and motivation has suffered. I really look forward to having completing it and enjoying my bike as much as I did before. Watching Joe Kidd on a Stingray really helped me alot with respect to that though, just knowing where it all came from to a further degree made me appracite riding bikes to a WHOLE NEW level.

I rarely post an opinion, but this deserves great merit.

I got my hands on this video back in October, and to this day it is truely inspiring. Danes section with the Lucero song totally meshes together and gets me so pumped to ride. I can't help but appreciate the skill.

Along with the rest of the actual talent and skill on this video, it's definately on the top of my favorites.

I enjoy the flow and music of the whole video and wouldn't change anything.

Keep it up Dane.
