Actually, Chase and I did talk about it a fair amount and Chase was actually flown out there as one of the judges but there was one huge problem,...the system we worked on was never intended for use within a battle format. It's something we both totally disagree with. That being said, after talking with him about our collective experience as judges, and in trying to implement a more fair system, I think we've both come to the conclusion that the situation is hopeless--you simply cannot remove the bias that some judges carry within themselves, (not to put all the blame on them, judging at that level is super hard to do), and sometimes the numbers just don't reflect how you think the results should be. So essentially, comps are inherently buggered and they probably always will be. I guess it's just something that all competitors will have to expect in the future and come to terms with (not that they don't have the right to call out the b.s.; eventually that might help a little).

Mutt,
Don't let him get to you. I'm not sticking up for him, I'm calling you on your blatant religious descrimination and hatred mongering. You can say whatever you want about me on here and it's not likely to matter too much to me because I don't take it so seriously. Just chill the fuck out before you get kicked off of here again. You're like the king of lashing out huh? Man, maybe just take a couple of days off from the forums, hit a relaxation spa or something, unwind...loosen-up. I only called you out on your religious bigotry (something I take very seriously) and your senseless posts,...hey what are friends for if we can't call eachother out on shit huh?

Alright... Who let the Dog out!??
Translation; Mutt stay the fuck out of my threads if you are going to start bashing people based upon their personal religious orientation. Since you've been back you've sounded like a broken record with nothing important to say. TJ is abrasive but, he tells it like he sees it, and unless you can challenge him using clear English language and logic, you're just taking up bandwith.
Where's that damn mussel!

So basically what the majority of riders here are saying is that the image of a battle (borrowed from b-boying is good) but with a strong "emo" pressence in regards to behaviour and attitude.
I'm not sure I agree with you there. Regardless of what riders here are saying, I don't think they are really questioning themselves or their preformed opinions you know. Disclaimer: enjoying some hip-hop music is different than adopting a commercially created culture as one's own. One may enjoy some of the music without having to buy into the whole sold image of it's hype and hysteria.

Considering as how so many people seem to like this macho, tough guy, wanabee gangstar style of riding competition, allow me to propose an even more 'old school'/'keeping it real' 'style' of competition. It will be based upon the French tradition of the 'duel'. Since so many seem to love the drama so much, I suggest that when the last 8 riders reach the finals, they call eachother out by taking a glove off and walking over to whom they would like to compete against and then slapping them in the face with the glove (rhine-stone studded Michael Jackson gloves will be allowed for the 'bling' effect as well as to ensure some bleeding). Following the gloved slap, riders will be juged on head gear and poor posture alone--since these categories are by far the most obvious to all. Points will be deducted for holding 'cup-a-farts' and releasing them in one's opponents general vicinity. If a draw should be the end result, there will be a sudden death to be decided via topless male pillow fight alone.

Well, Chase had a decent judging system in place for the qualifiers but, I guess the organizers wanted a battle format for the finals 'to get the crowd more into it'. That being said, even with Chase's pretty fucking thorough judging system, there will always be room for error and bias, these simply cannot be eliminated. Not to mention, getting ripped off out of first place to end in second isn't as bad as getting off-ed at 6th place...sometimes shit's close (I haven't seen the final battle so I'm not saying anything particular about this comp).
But here is something that really needs to be said ***Fuck Battle formats!!!*** Fuck this bullshit, wannabee breack-dancing rip-off (sure flatlanders are concerned with originality, that's why we try and copy the 'battle format' from break-dancers). Let me ask you a question; have you ever heard of huge crowds going to see break-dancing comps? --I don't think so. It's cool and all, but it's like a novelty act and by trying to copy them flatlanders look like fucking circus-freak posers. All I hear is people say, 'oh, it's to get the croud into it'; but that's bull shit; I've whitnessed the crouds at both regular competition formats and battles and honestly, the crouds were better at regular comps. I fear this whole battle thing is some perverted attempt to bring flatland more inline with hip-hop culture (and a sad attempt at that). It has nothing to do with what flatland is really about--one doesn't get respect in the hood for throwing down in a battle homie-- it's about being creative with a bike. The battle format can only be a tool do divide us by way of turning our collective passion into a commercially prostituted example of how even we apparent outsiders fit seemlessly in line with the dominent, atomistic, competitive western world-view and value system. In short, it totally sucks. Not to mention, as soon as a contest is geared towards pleasing or amping up the crowd, it lends favor to those riders who act as 'showmen' and 'performers' rather than the actual quality of the riding. If you want give them a performance have a half time show were fucking clowns juggle bowling pins and flaming sticks while riding unicycles because, by adopting a battle format, that's the light in which riders are cast.
And please, quick to respond people with nothing important to say, re-read this post ten times and reflect on it before you come and say some empty, opinionated dribble. There is a lot more that can be said about how retarded battle formats are but the simplest and most truthful comment is that they are absolutely pointless and don't get flatland any closer to mainstream acceptance.

How's about $ 38.00 Canadian total (i.e. shipping included)?
Bars Sold please delete thread posted on 2006-09-18 21:20:01
Here is a pair of 7.25" rise, 24" wide, ***zero sweep*** refurbished Contorsion bars. There was a slight crack that had started on the weld at the clamp tube, it was only like 2-3mm in length--like two little beads of weld. So I had my friend who is a pro welder re-weld over the slight crack adding additional material to beef it up. The bars are still in awsome shape minus some paint scuffs from being ridden. Asking $ 55.00 u.s. plus shipping
****SOLD****

Here's the pics. I've ridden it for some time and it has held up great, it's still straight and the teeth don't show much ware. There is however a slight groove on the back where it grinded into my euro cup for a while before I figured out I needed to put a spacer there (duh). But once it's on you won't see it since it is on the back side and it doesn't weaken the sprocket at all.

I don't know what you guys are looking at but I think pretty much all of Justin's stuff is original---he is certainly not copying anyone else's combos. I think what we have here is a pretty obvious case of envy. Anyone ever guess why Trevor never went to contests overseas (even after he slowed down on the copying)?

I'm not sure if the Premium is the KHE tire or not, but if it is, I can't stand them, tore it off after a few tricks--garbage. Stick with the frequency G's
I was gonna try those khes aswell can i ask what was so bad about them ? all though im not surprised as every KHE part ive ever bought has been total gash to be honest especially those 32 hole wheels they musta been designed for riders who weigh 3 stone and ride once a month .
They were very sluggish and wobbly as fuck, I simply couldn't lock a controlled spin with them. On top of other rows...
