 - n' retarded?! It's a 28mm reach stem made of the same material that is used by all bike manufacturers in the last forty (40) years!!  Either Aluminium and Steel (of which Chro-moly and other alloy blends are made of...) and in some rare cases Titamium and Carbon fiber are used.  It's not going to be any stronger if it's call a mountain bike or flatland frame or component.  Stop being infantile and understand what you are looking at before you post...

P.S. I am in no way affiliated with quamen or anything they produce.

Yeah, I didnt know it was a MTB stem when I posted it. I just saw a new quamen stem and a length of 28mm. But hey, people use profile racing cranks and chris king headsets. Why cant we use this? the clamping area on the stem is probably bigger then 7/8". You would need a shim, which I would never run.

Mountain bike components are completely different from flatland components. Mountain bike components are designed for mountain bikes. Flatland components are designed for flatland bikes. Different needs + different uses = different designs. Not all aluminium stems will be equally strong for so many reasons - and I feel stupid having to even type that.

That stem would not be good for flatland, which should be no great surprise to anybody... The latest Quamen FLATLAND stem is the best stem that I have ever had and I've broken a lot of stems in my relatively short flatland career. I trust Quamen - and Quamen trust us not to use their mountain bike stem on a flatland bike. And, yes i do consider myself to be 'qualified' to say that based on pictorial evidence. My hand got burnt when I put it on the stove as a kid. Does that mean that I have to put my dick on it to find out if that will get burnt too? An interesting philosophical question? Or is it?

Aluminium is not just aluminium. Go and read G-sport Georges website and calm down. Stop wetting your pants and stomping around when somebody posts something that you don't agree with. Don't insult people either. You're coming across like an idiot.

If you have problems controlling your anger I suggest masturbating more frequently.

This is flatland not a rednecks' rodeo.

Let's play nicely...

Mr Chamberlin what the f

 - k are you doing? Why are you getting all fired up? Did you just get out of prison recently or something? Mountain bike components are no different from mountain bike components. Mountain bike components are designed for a set purpouse brought forth by the designer for each designs individual function. Flatland components are designed for a set purpouse brought forth by the designer for each designs individual function. Different needs + different uses = different designs being brought to the table by the designer and not the branding of a label. Not all aluminium stems will be equally strong for so many reasons - and I feel stupid having to even type that. That stem may be good for flatland depending on the person buying it and the function it will have to serve for that individual rider, which should be no great surprise to anybody... The latest Quamen FLATLAND stem is another design designed fr a different type of function. And, yes i do consider myself to be 'qualified' to say that based on pictorial evidence. I was never stupid enough to put my hand on the stove as a kid. So even concidering to put my dick on it to find out if that will get burnt too would give me an iq short of a previous poster? Can i even justify this as being a philosphical question? I hope not. Calm down. Stop wetting your pants and making verbal assults when somebody posts something that you don't agree with(oxymoron) . Don't insult people either. You're coming across like an idiot. If you have problems controlling your anger I suggest medication with education. This is webforum not a rednecks' rodeo. Im curious at how riders such as Tim Knoll ride flatland with a - no, dont say it - a STREET stem?

Oh my God, you mean to tell me that a flatlander is using a stem that isnt specified for Flatland!?!?!

People can actually ride flatland with a 50mm stem, which is obviously a poor design for flatland, and has no reason to be on a flatland bike?  What about people with full offset forks?  They arent designed for flatland, so they definately wouldnt be very strong for flatland...

Seriously, like said before, how many of you have a legal document stating you are qualified to make decisions like that?  Wait, never mind, look at George W. Bush.  Hes super qualified...

Basslyne...

First off, you said your not bashing anyone, but you are. Second off, they just said they didn't like the stem, that's their opinion, respect it. And third off, flatland922 is a mechanical engineer. So yeah.

Personally, If I were to run this MTB stem for Flat... the thing that I would be worried about is the decreased surface area of the face plate. This would make increased pressure on the smaller parts of the face plate... and it is also less area to keep the bars from moving around.

It is a beautiful stem for MTBers though.
