-a post to the shoutbox should not take several minutes. nothing on the internet should take several minutes. you're just posting to a shoutbox table and then querying the top 5 or X results. it's really not a big deal.
-i can't find a quick jump thing at the bottom, unless i'm trying to jump to superherohype.com or something.
-i have no idea how long it takes to bring up the edit page, but i gave up after a couple of minutes.
-while browsing, please make external links open in a new window. maybe it's because i hate tabed browsing (luxury of dual monitors on my development machine), but if i click a link in your sig, it doesn't mean that I'm done with pedal, i just want to browse that (while waiting for some of these pages to load).

That's all for now, I think.

Cory

-After a reply is posted, show the user the reply. Taking them to the first post makes the user believe that that post was the most recent, and not theirs, and then they're confused (especially in a post with 6 pages).
-Jumping from page 1 to 6 takes way too long. This probably goes back to fixing your sql as mentioned above.

Cory Dee: Thanks! This is exactly the kind of help I need. I am testing with this post that users should now be redirected to their post after replies. The 'Quick Jump' feature is the drop-down menu under the Forums link. It should work as long as you have JavaScript. I have added Reply buttons to the top of Thread views, and have scrapped the "Logged in!" message.

Not sure why Ctrl+V doesn't work, what browser/platform are you on? The edit button should work, I'll look into that. And yes, I know I need to optimize the SQL. Again thanks for the help, and I'll keep working on these issues.

I just edited this post by the way, to add this line. Does it just not load, or what?

Nick, Daniel here again to complain... no, just kidding!   Just a few things I think still need a bit of work:

  • I still have to login everytime time I leave the site, or turn off the computer.  I have not disabled or deleted cookies BTW.
  • I was trying to post this reply, I was asked to login, so I did, and then got to the main page, not the reply page I was expecting.
  • The main page layout still isn't, in my opinion, as readable as it should/ could be.

I can see the effort you put into the site is paying off, and I know you will not just give it up.  Maybe posting some milestones/ succeses/ developments about the new site will shed some light on what is going on "behind curtains"...

hey Nick i'm not sure whats going on but i figured i tell you about page loading issues.............i noticed now when a page is loaded and i'm like halfway through reading it, it vanishes for a few seconds, then comes back up. it started doing it about two weeks ago. now the last time it happened it vanished, then that "cannot display page" thing came up for a few seconds, then the page came back. just letting you know. peace.

I know a lot of people are very truly upset that pedal has changed so much.  Just logging on I can see the frustration on both sides.  Nick, I know how hard it is to make everyone happy, but some things here are just not apealling to anyone.  When I visit here all I see is blue.  Background and post letters, it is very hard to view.  And I know there are a few stragglers from old that still stop by (like me) just to see if it get better, but not really.  You put so much work into it to make it what you think we will like, yet it still has not happened.  People talk about the format and layout, yet all I see change is some colors, and line breaks.  Pedal was awesome when it looked like bykeforum.com does now.  I can only wish you the best of luck, and I will probably see you on byke's site.  Take care, later.....

Flat-man: A new template is in the works

Hoza: I banned only those who deserved it by repeated rule breaking. Sure, go ahead and go to global-flat, where they censor 'naughty' words. They're clearly much more tolerant than we are. And I really want to know what all these posts were that I deleted apparently. I am constantly being accused of deleting posts, what did I delete exactly? Oh, and JFos got banned for personally attacking me, as you are now doing. I've done nothing but give you a free place to post and talk. Sure it has ads, how the hell else I am supposed to do this? Even with the ads I still LOSE money running this site. So in conclusion, kindly fuck off.
