A: I will admit the site was launched prematurely. There were several reasons for that which I won't go into, but what's done is done. So let's concentrate on improving it instead, eh? B: The Quick Jump works in Firefox and IE. What exactly doesn't work about it? C: I've been begging for feedback. And as useful as you may think it is "I don't like the new layout" doesn't help very much. Almost every individual issue that has been raised has been fixed or addressed. So help me out and submit a bug report and actually tell me what you want fixed or changed.
Personally, I think I've done a damn good job on this site. I'm sure none of you probably will ever appreciate how much work it took to get it to the functionality it's at now. This isn't some downloaded or purchased script, I wrote this thing line for line. So if it doesn't work the same as some packaged open source script, that might be why. This was built to address custom needs, and operates in a very custom way. It is incredibly expandible, which means once I match the existing functionality I will be able to start building and do some really awesome things.
However all this general negativity doesn't help. This is criticism, I need some critique. Don't tell me you liked "the old site". Tell me specifically what about the old site you liked that is gone or different now. - Nick Busey

ACK! Okay, aside from the "I like the old format better" I will add to what I don't like about the new. First of all, the format is horrible! Everything seems so squished together. A lot of wasted space. Along with the formatting is the readability. Right now, it's very hard to follow and not easy on the eyes. Even the size of the reply box is small considering all the space that's still available on my screen. It just isn't friendly from a user's point of view. Nick, I understand your hard work put into building your own custom site. But that hard work will never be realized if people find it hard to work with asthetically. In this case, form over function. Make it easy to read, easy to use, maximize the use of space, and people will come back. Another reason why I've stopped coming is at first glance, the site looks like it's in the "Under Construction" phase. Considering how Pedal used to be, I just can't tolerate the overall state it's in right now. Please, fix it or revert back to the old one! You have a good thing going here...you can't lose it because of developer's pride. Trust me, I know what you're talking about. In my industry where creativity and useability matters most, hearing what people want may not always be the direction you want to go to. Good luck! Hrm...now we'res the post button?!?! Okay...there's another thing, the Post button is so hard to see! At least on my end, the button is colored white similarly to the background of the website. MySpace Profile: SoCal Rider

Yeah no offence nick. I did try and post my problems when the site was first changed but after writing a long message it was lost (just like all my old private messages that I wanted to keep). There are still so many rows with this new site for me that I can't bear to list them all again. I pretty much agree with the comments made by others and then some. Hopefully you can get this thing rolling again soon. In the mean time, for people who found the older format a little more workable go to byke's site it's good

I was wondering the same thing. I still come in maybe once or twice a day to see if any posts have been added/etc.. but nothign usually ever is. Very discouraging.
critique. When I look at the site, i don't feel like I'm at a website. I feel like i'm looking at a piece of paper with typing on it. Not literally. But you get the point It's just a white screen with typing sprawled out over across the entire page. and then other smaller options randomly placed here and there, that don't seem to be organized well. yes, it gets the job done. But it beins to make interacting with other riders online a chore for the eyes and a stress on the mind. I don't know what all changes you may have planned. But I suggess simply considering doing what you can to make the site more enjoyable to view, look at.
either way I'll still be here wandering around though.. just a suggestion. Enjoy

take your time you're the experienced one in this. What you've done in the past seemed to work well, so I'm sure you will come through again, using whatever resources you have.
But really, don't rush anything. Maybe try testing a few different layout variations your self before updating the changes. Experiment a little :P Enjoy

I just hate the whole thing. I've been posting on global flat since the forums went down. I say just bring the old pedal back up and scrap all this junk. It's just not worth it. No offense to all your hard work Nick, and I know the reasons you changed things.. I just don't think they needed changing.
