so if i made a polka band that called "Fuck god, yay anarchy" we would be a punk band?

Loc and CV play similar music, and have 1-2 shared members. They arent the same band. They just both have Stza in them.
Well CV broke up.. but they both had Stza in them. Thats where the similarities end. Similar music. 1 member.

A punk band can have lyrics like "I love god, I love all of his creatures, please gimme a hug cause I love you too, lets watch the OC" and still be a punk band. Punk is the music, not the lyrics, or the mesage or personal opionions of the band.
It's both. Brando was punk. It's an attitude as much as it's the music. It's the combination of the two.

You can be a "punk" or you can listen/play punk music. Its not the same thing. Im shure alot of metal heads get called "punks", or have that "punk attitude" that you think exists. The idea of having an opinon, makes you the same as a type of music, is the most illogical shit i have ever heard.

metalheads are just called "punks" by the mainstream/media/stuckup people, they are using the word punk as a bad thing,
the punk attitude is what makes punk punk. otherwise its just a bunch of worthless people playing instruments poorly.

Saying you have a "punk attitude" is about the least cool thing you could ever do. Its like trying so hard to fit some idea of being counterculture. Its a sad day now that counterculture is culture.

Bullshit.

Saying "Im a punk" makes you the opposite of what you should be.

Usually not claiming anything is a beter route to go. If you're gona "claim" something say you're a BMX rider. I ride bikes but happen to listen to punk (and some hxc). but it doesn't really matter either way. We're all a pretty leanient (sp?) bunch.

Theres a LOT of overlap between "metal" and punk

Before "speedmetal" became a term for neo-classical, it was punk thru and thru, with the speedmetal name so people wouldnt take crap for listening to punk

The current, completely gay trend of having enforced rules of sucking at your instrument has no basis in traditional punk

Where would shred metal be if not for Dayglo Abortions, Adrenaline OD or the Meatmen?

Where would death metal be without the first Corrosion of Conformity album?

Fight - War of Words had Rob Halford from Judas Priest singing on it, and shredders on it, but can anyone make a claim it is not one of the best, hardest, political, hardcore punk albums ever released?

The whole venice scene could give a shit with labels and distinctions. Anyone who wanted to keep their teeth in their mouth would do well to agree with whatever these bands called themselves, whther they say punk or metal or what have you...I mean Suicidal Tendencies, Excel, No Mercy, Beowulf, Circle 1, Los Cycos, etc...

Luckily, Im seeing a lot of skill returning to the hardcore scene lately. Time to make some timeless music again
