Duncan, are you joking about CV and LoC being more ska than punk? I think when most people think of ska, they think of bands like the Toasters, the Skatalites, the Specials, Justin Hinds and the Dominoes, etc. Not deathmetal ska/punk like CV and LoC. LoC and CV are more in a genre with AAA if anything, really heavy punk/ska.
Which reminds me, I left Against All Authority off my list (I think). One of my favorite bands of all time, and I still have not seen them live.  :x

yeah. you left em off your list. i dunno how much more punk you could get than being a band of squatters (c.v and l.o.c)

So who invented skacore then? And you forgot the 3rd member of the unholy trinity. F- Minus.

^^ I forgot F-Minus as well, but I usually associate indk and morning glory with loc and cv more than f-minus.

its like impossible to say who invented any genre,
you could even say elvis costello has almost a ska/reggae sound to his music
cus its all just influences, no1 decides."ok we're gonna make music that sounds like nothing else" cus it has to be influenced from something else.

F-minus < CV

INDK is pretty sweet though.

Choking Victim is thrash ska. Leftover Crack is more punk than CV is.

Why does rat keep saying how a band acts means what they make musicaly?
Shadows Fall sings about god, but im not gonna call them gospel. Flogging molly is more of a arena band. They arent a specific genre.
And by saying the mighty mighty bosstones is ska core.. your proving my point.

plus nobody invented skacore. It evolved out of ska.
thats like saying someone invented humans. We evolved.

i included f-minus in my list. but to address duncan: you are aware that loc and choking victim are basicly the same band right? what a band says and does is what makes them punk or not. and what flogging molly says and supports is deffinently punk, even though they dont SOUND like what people think punk should sound like.

so if i made a polka band that called "Fuck god, yay anarchy" we would be a punk band?

Loc and CV play similar music, and have 1-2 shared members. They arent the same band. They just both have Stza in them.
Well CV broke up.. but they both had Stza in them. Thats where the similarities end. Similar music. 1 member.

A punk band can have lyrics like "I love god, I love all of his creatures, please gimme a hug cause I love you too, lets watch the OC" and still be a punk band. Punk is the music, not the lyrics, or the mesage or personal opionions of the band.

umm
its called gypsy punk, thats kinda what flogging molly is

and punk is both style and lyrical content/message
people just play punk music and sing about other stuff, then make up a name for the genre, like post-hardcore did to harcore, or what christian metalcore did to metal its just dumb, and those who do it deserve to die
