starting todo something only to become the best, is a shitty way to start. If he shows apititude for itt, then it makes sense.

Your fucked up if you begin something only to become the best, not just cause you like it.

he never really said he was doin it to be good in the first place, and he obviously likes it if hes doing it. if you start to do somehtin to be the best, thats a farfetched dream to begin with anyways. but its fine if you do it because you like it, and want to be successfull at it also.

^I agree, if you ride to get sponsored, you won't, because if that's your goal, you probably lack talent anyway. Ride for fun, if you're good, you'll get sponsored.

If you're riding because you wanna get sponsored....never mind, actually.  Go have fun becoming the best rider of all time.

that was kind of unecessary, he just wants to try to succeed in somethin

it doesnt matter if your trying to succeed in something, BMX is not a money cash-pot.  Kids come into this sport seeing Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist and automatically think that they'll get rich riding.  Thats why every single pro you meet will say that riding just to get sponsored is pointless.  So to the kid that started this, if you are just riding to get sponsored, do us all a favor and just quit and go inline or something.

back to the topic..... i don't think you should give up on flatland.  maybe try to learn some basics of flatland and then incorporate them into street and ramp riding.  i think flatland gives you a good feel for your bike and a good grasp on how to control it and your body.  learn some hang fives, fork wheelies, dork glides, endos, manuals, maybe steamrollers and whiplashes.  do the basics.  once you have some of these things down i think street riding will be a bit easier.  you will have a feel for your bike.  learn bunny hop 180s and the feel of how to spin your bike/body.  try some of these flat tricks inbetween street sessions.  then go out on a ramp and do the things these guys have been saying.  do some one footers, one handers, turn bars/x-ups etc.  some of the people here gave you good advice.  my suggestion....GO RIDE.  tricks will come with time.

oh - and i think most riders here who have been riding for a minute would find offense to your sponsorship statement - especially flatlanders.  ride for the love of it and for the fun of it.  if you dont like flatland then dont ride flatland.  if you dont ride flat because of sponsorship reasons but you like it - then get out of the sport completely!
