Hmm.. I'm sure every rider is able to roll to some extent.. I would say Alexis Desolneux has a very good rolling sense but in the terms of the contest he did quite badly due to lack of space. So.. yes I do think turbine tricks are played out but the stuff coming out from some riders (Krisada from Thailand to name one) is pretty damn hard I have to say.

I also agree with Brandon on this one but, must add I feel it may be a tad unfair to people that learn tricks, such as turbine-steamrollers, with purpose beyond the aesthetic.Turbine-steamrollers has become a major trend, one which alot of beginners will natrually follow and very well cheat themselves out of the true art of flatland as a highly creative sport that set itself aside from the rest as riders should.

See, what's really ironic about this thread, is that there ARE a ton of riders doing the turbined steamroller shit, but not many of them are really that good at it. They can spin around a lot, but it's not like they have a huge variety rotating around that trick.

I have a different perspective on this. I can't do turbined steams yet (or "in and out of the pussy", name credit to Steph Cerra) but I want to learn them cause they look like they would be fun to do. Don't people do certain tricks cause they like they way they feel? Don't we all have favorites that we do just for ourselves? Isn't this whole activity supposed to be fun? Club Homeboy Forever! See, that's another thing. Not too many riders are actually doing this in the united states. When I go to any jams I see riders doing a very wide variety of things other than turbined steamrollers. The thing is, they ARE fun to do. I went through that phase for a while and had a blast because it's not difficult at all, and there are a lot of things you can do with it that not many people are actually doing.

I just don't understand the controversy around this. I tend to lean toward edogg2k4's (Erik's) point of view. I've watched many videos with riders doing turbined steamroller-style tricks and it might get old after a while ... to watch. I have a feeling that if I were actually doing those tricks, though, I'd be having a blast. For example, I'm still battling the basics of the sport and I'm having fun doing that stuff. If I saw a video where riders basically did the same things that I do (e.g. steamroller, hangfive, whiplash, etc.) I'd be really, really bored. But when I'm out there doing that stuff, it's just fun. So, what are people here trying to get at? "If it doesn't impress me, then it's boring and unworthy?" If that's the case, then maybe I can understand it. What I can't understand is the need to put down. - - I like my land flat - -

I dont want to be a dick or anything, but maybe Brandon is just a little pissed that either A) He cant do turbines, or B) He can do turbines, but cant go very fast. Seriously, what the fuck man? I like to do turbines because I like to go fast, not because its trendy. Also, going as fast as physically possible takes alot of practice to get up to that momentum and keep it going, as opposed to going at a normal speed. From my own riding, it takes alot more control to go either super slow, or go super fast, not a normal speed. Apollyon Bike Company. ![]() SCG SHOE COMPANY
