BMX Fiction? posted on 2006-08-29 04:28:14

Alright.
So pretty much.
I wanna see what you guys have in the way of writing skills.
...Imma go first.

Castor wiped as much sweat from his forehead as he could with his blue and black Pryme carbon helmet on. His Snafu elbow gaurds had accumlated several rips in them from practicing his run. He adjusted his Snafu combo pads then his Snafu gloves. He cocked his head, left then right, looking at the park. Lake Owen's Bowl Gym. He placed his navy, white, and red Etnies Annex shoes to his pedals and pedaled once. He pulled up, then turned and pulled his back end up, then pushed down, going into the quarter pipe going straight to a spine into the bowl. He crouched down then aired off the side of the spine, turning his body into a large turndown, then turned back and into the bowl.  He landed smooth into the bowl then pedaled hard, airing out the opposite side of the bowl at an angle. He pulled the bars up into his lap then took off his hands. He placed his hands back on as he finished his 180 degree rotation. He landed into a quarterpipe, which was next to the bowl. He crouched then went off one of the pyramids, taking his feet off and kicking them straight to the left side. He pulled his legs up and placed them back on the pedals. He landed then turned slightly, then going off a quarterpipe and kicked his tail around to the left, and turned 180 degrees to the left. He caught the tail then placed his feet back on the pedals, landing back into the quarterpipe. He only had enough time to make one complete revolution with the pedals with enough time to set up before he hit the funbox agian. He kicked his tail to the left agian, kicking his legs straight to his left. He brought his left leg up, catching the tail with his right leg, then placed his feet back on the pedals, swinging the tail a small bit to land straight. He went off another quarterpipe, cleanly performing and landing a flair. He manualed over the funbox, then did a 180, going towards the quartpipes next to the bowl. Hardest part of the run. He crouched as he rolled over the funbox. Then launched off the quarterpipe at an angle, throwing his weight forward, slowly spinning to his right. He landed almost perfectly in the bowl, but it wasn't time for celebration yet. He pedaled as hard as he could towards the spine. He crouched down low then launched out of the bowl, throwing his body backwards and kicking his tail. He threw his arms around, while also spinning his body in two different ways. He saw the tail of the bike pass under him, then begin to go around agian as he continued to rotate. As he almost completed the backflip he put his feet down, putting them onto the pedals of the bike, then landed into the other quarter pipe of the spine. He launched out of the quarterpipe he dropped in into, and bailed his bike. He landed on the deck while his bike landed in the quarterpipe and slid onto the floor, as Castor was rushed by the occupants of the park.

Either you don't kick hard enough, or your not moving your bars right.  You need to move your bars in a circular motion and kick almost as hard as you can.

I watch that video everyday. And I think next time we see him ride a halfpipe, it'll be one of the best vert runs ever. Might even see another no-handed 900.
And I didn't know that Mirra had frontflips.

Re: Barspins posted on 2006-08-26 10:58:11

Jump. Pinch your seat. Catch them whichever way feels good.
You can even try to be sik stylez.
Jump, barspin, catch the bars then let go before you land.
And hope you don't eat it.
...I wish I could still do barspins.
But my seat hurts my calves like a fuck.
Because it's too narrow and the guts dig into my legs.

Re: Tail wips? posted on 2006-08-26 10:53:44

I'm just gonna tell you how I do them.
Pedal fast.
Crouch when you get to the jump.
As you're taking off, jump with your feet.
When you get air, if your feet aren't above your bike already, kick the tail to make it start to spin.
Move your bars in a circular motion to get a better and faster spin.
Raise you feet up so you can get your foot over the top tube.
Put your feet down, hopefully on the pedals.
Ride away and feel sik because you just did a tailwhip.

Re: peg stall posted on 2006-08-26 10:48:15

Just get comfortable riding it. Make sure you can get up to the coping and turn around/180 before you try to stall, that should help. If not, lean away from the coping.

Saddles/Seats? posted on 2006-08-26 10:44:00

Alright. Just wondering what everyone has their ass on. For no apparent reason.
Right now I'm riding a Specialized Pro seat with the Tatoo graphic on it.
Prolly gonna change that to a 414 Stubby Embroidered seat later today.
When I get my Pinch Imma be riding a Stolen Embossed seat.
Then probably a while after that, I'll be riding either the Snafu Dunbar or Snafu Jump.

Re: Street in the back and Trails in the front! Tire recomendations? posted on 2006-08-24 14:19:51

Yep. Imma contribute to this forum.

Snafu Rimjob or Sterly in rear.

Snafu Knob Job or Dirt Box in front.

When I get my Pinch I'm gonna run a Sterly in rear and a Knobjob in front.

Re: sprocket posted on 2006-08-24 14:18:04

Depends what you're looking for.  If you're not too much about weight, and run a larger gear ratio, Snafu Chunk. If you run a smaller gear ratio and you're looking for light, Snafu Lite or Stolen Mood Ring.

Easy ways to make money? You could do what everyone in Spokane does when they need spare money.

Sell Weed.

Pretty much. Get some weed, sell it for around $10 a gram, and you got yourself some profit.

Best go for a quarter or a half zip whenever you re-up. You get more profit that way.

i Swear by etnies and DVS

Same for me. Except DC instead of DVS.  But Etnies should last a long time if you use brakes. And by brakes I don't mean the Etnies.

Re: Is this good for dirt? posted on 2006-08-18 04:05:38

Well. You can't really say if any bike is a dirtbike. Unless it's an S&M Dirtbike. Because...Anyways, it's a dirt bike only if you want it to be.
