Cassete versus Freecoaster hub posted on 2005-11-24 05:50:58

nah that is a cassete it the older heavier style hazzard hub so the pedals will spin backwards when you roll back your looking at one of these
http://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/COMPHUBMXODY/HU9181
the advantage of freecoasters is you can do things like fakie without the cranks spinning on you, but there mainly used in flatland but the problem with them is they normaly have quite a bit of slack in them before pedal engagement where casete hub engage nice and quick there real smooth and because there more precision there gonna reduce the severiety of tightspots you have well hope that helps and try using the search function next time before posting new topic i thinks there a number of topics about the diferent types of hubs

Removable Brakemount Idea for Frames posted on 2005-11-23 15:40:57
i dont think the mounts are removable...it just has the option of mounts or no mounts.
yeah correct there like the fit edwin delorosa but they do come with the option of mounts atleast unlike the delorosa
http://www.hoffmanbikes.com/ it on the home page news section a little way down.
by the way can you actualy weld steel to alloy to do with the diferent melting temperatures because i don't think you can and the posts are steel so they won't weld to the alloy frame mounts so i think thats why they thread alloy frame mounts yet not weld them which would be a lot easier in production sense since there still weliding the mount so i think its more than anything production speed and ease bedind them not threading the mounts hope that helps

Removable Brakemount Idea for Frames posted on 2005-11-23 04:31:37

yeah there a pretty good idea my race frame has them and if you look at a lot of mountainbikes with disk brake they have mount for removable lugs they just dont put the lugs on and race bikes have them abit i think its mainly done on aloi frames im not sure of the reasoning behind doin to aloi but not cromo or steel but theres probly a reason

Some questions regarding headtubes and geometry posted on 2005-11-20 04:29:31

the more offset you have the steeper the headtube angle will be the taller the height from the bottom of the bearing race to the center of where your axle sit in the dropouts the mallower the headtube will be a taller bottom headset cup will give you a mallower headtube angle even something like a fatter front tire will raise your front end and or smaller rear tire will lower your backend and give you a mallower headtube angle or visa versa if you want it steeper well i think thats correct anyway if its not ah well and ye it doesn't take much adjustment of headtube angle to make a big difference and that not hard to make an adjustment to.
if you just can't cant understand me u could also try

Rear Hub (Profile SS or Odyssey 05')??? posted on 2005-11-18 05:17:09

this may sound stupid or something but looking at the silver ring sort of thing that the driver engages against in the hub shell it seems to be a seperate part maybe its possible to pop that ring out and flip it around or possibly just buy a lhd one if they some splining or something to keep from spining in the hub then just buy the parts you were going to buy anyway except for make it a left hand driver im not sure may not work so check you can flip that ring first but i no it would be interesting to find because this could save having to do what your contemplating to buy a new 350 hub just to get lhd and keep realy smooth hub plus relacining if they dont no how and shit like that so id sugest u look into that as a possibility well hope that helps

Considerations When Buying A New Crank? posted on 2005-11-14 06:30:11

its a us BB just for one only us bb fit 1pc and ye its anoy ing with that sprocket problem I had the same problem once its a 22mm internal diameter sprocket where one piece cranks and ocassionaly some three piece cranks require a 23.5 internal diameter sprocket
you can buy bb converters so you can run euro cranks like this one of danscomp if you want and my sugestion for new cranks just try to make sure they atleast have sealed bearing nice bike by the way
