metal is referred to when considering your regular basic "Heavy Metal" bands (old 80's judas priest shit like that) metalcore is an infusion of some death metal influence and some fake hardcore/screamo, added with structure and usually basic melody.

hardcore is basically sped up punk, more serious, more passionate, strait up (power violence, crust, real grind , and real emo is based on hardcore) its always debated to who actually started hardcore so im not gonna just say a name here

i mean i have the slightest bit of respect for them for the fact they admit to having influences from carcass (heartwork/swasongish) and some entombed shit, and theyre obviously talented guys. the truth is they write awful music, are completely out of genre, real death metal shouldnt have virtually any structure, melodic death is a complete contradiction on the term. they have the shittiest group/scenes around, so bad the shit puts a bad taste in my mouth listening to them, and last but not least who the fuck cares about elizabeth short
